Sharing of some points which why our little red passport is the envy of other country citizens.

Uncomfortable Questions
=====================

(1) Are you prepared to accept the possibility of a freak election result where the opposition forms a coalition government since many people assume that there will always be enough people to vote PAP into government, thus it will still be safe to vote for opposition ? Your vote could be the swing.

(2) Will you be comfortable for the current slate of opposition candidates to speak on Singapore's behalf in international affairs and forums? Can any of the current opposition candidate be able to make us proud like DPM Tharman during his interview at St Gallen ?

(3) Why do the opposition mostly focus on domestic issues and not international matters? Are they only capable of handling domestic issues? What are their views on world affairs as Singapore is very dependent and vulnerable to her external environment ? Will they be able to engage and talk in depth with the world leaders and business leaders?

(4) Are you confident that the opposition can continue to maintain our good international relationships with other nations, especially given the sensitive relations with our neighbours and the big countries? How will they handle the haze from Indonesia and water issue from Malaysia etc? They cannot conveniently tagged on PAP's solutions if PAP is voted out of government.

(5) Is it so important to have a different voice in Parliament just for the sake of it regardless of the quality and credibility of that voice ? Does this voice truly speak for the people or merely to serve their personal agenda or grudge against PAP ?

(6) Are you looking at the big picture or do you only care about the details? If Singapore does not have enough water for its people, do you think we will still complain about MRT breakdown? Without the existing framework of stable and strong government, social harmony, economic prosperity, do you think you will still complain about foreign workers? We might have to be foreign workers ourselves.

(7) What are some of the knee jerk reactions if PAP is voted out of the government? Market will react, foreign funds will flee Singapore immediately, our currency will lose its value and our investments will drop. Do you think investors will risk their money and wait for the new government to prove itself? No investor like a politically unstable country. As soon as a whiff of a political unrest is detected, the ringgit went into a free fall.

(8) Why do you want to give your vote to a new and unknown candidate who did not even contribute to the community before and penalize the person who has been serving the community through grassroots work ? Have he or she earned it ? Some candidates only appear every 4-5 years when election comes.

(9) It's very easy to be popular by saying what people want to hear and promise to give more, but it is even more courageous to implement the right policies for the nation long term and be unpopular short term. Nobody like to be the one to give hard truths, but someone has to do it.

(10) Is there a perfect government in this world ? Why are countries sending their diplomats to study from a small little red dot if our government didn't get most of it right?

(11) Do you want a paralyzed parliament which is bogged down with bickering over short term national issues to gain political points from voters? You need a government with foresight and do long term planning. Marina Bay, Changi Airport expansion, PSA ports etc cannot be built in a one election cycle. Do you think a weak government fighting for political survival will have time for these long term projects ?

(12) Why do we have to keep striving to be among the best in the world? Would other nations or MNCs or investors bother with a little red dot if we are just mediocre? There are so many big cities around the world with many natural and human resources, so how does Singapore stand out if we are just average? What captures the world's attention on Singapore? As our PM said, the work is never done, there are still more peaks to scale. Can we afford to remain stagnant and be complacent as a little red dot?

I don't see how PAP losing can be considered a freak result

PAP is doing a lousy job. It is only natural that they could be booted out, what is so freakish about it?

And if PAP is doing a lousy job, chances are the next player will be the better player.

Period.

What u are asking are not uncomfortable questions, but at the same time, I think more and more opposition voters will gladly tell u that they are very comfortable to vote the way they want despite your seemingly "uncomfortable" questions.

tl:dr

Stopped at 2nd point. Summary plox. All I know is, my children will have an even tougher time then me. And, face cannot eat one. And if you're so afraid of everything, don't step out of your home, who knows an oven or fridge might drop on your head and you might pass away.

Besides, that's the purpose of democracy, don't like it, use your vote to change, then if it doesn't work out, change again. Stop using the "whole world vs us mentality".

"Gang rape, after all, is democracy in action". - by some MP.

You put 88 man and 1 woman in a room, what happens?

Or, another scenario..

You put 88 white man and 1 of any other color in a room.. what happens?

Wouldn't you like 50 white man and maybe some blue and some red to balance things out?

Or get raped over and over again by the same guys of the same color....?

Let me educate you then.

Certain individual say they will vote for the opposition but they WANT the PAP to be the next government. They vote for the opposition to poke the PAP government into have a sense of insecurity to do better and also out of pity for the opposition candidate. They do not want the candidate to lose their deposit.

The freak part is how the hell do those individual know that they are the only ones taking pity on the opposition candidate? How do they know which percentile are their voting slip at? They can end up accidentally voting the opposition into the parliament against their own wish of a PAP candidate. That is a freak result.:o

Heng ah! LSS's statements in his rally has scored brownie points for us in the international scene. Luckily he is a PAP candidate and not opposition. Heng ah!

People don't vote opposition to give PAP a sense of insecurity unless PAP is doing something wrong. Then in that case, their vote is appropriate.

If one takes 2 steps back to get a clearer picture, one can undeniably see how the top 10% is making a mockery of the 90% by enriching themselves with policies that benefits them & maybe the next 20% tier.
As for the other fools of 30% thereabouts, if they cant see, means they cant see.
What they want is lift upgrades, better amenities, more bus services. Nothing wrong with all these BUT, if you don't have a job or if things gets expensive, guess who have to bite the bullet?
Not the 10%, not the 20% for sure.

So please vote wisely. Not for a govt change but vote for a inclusive future that your stakes will be just as important.

I have yet to meet any of this "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" type of voters

Are there many of them out there?

I know and share the same view

I do not want oppies to form the new gahmen, but I want a greater representation of oppies.

Pathetic, that after this amount of back and forth you still can't comprehend what my stand is

Ah bo, the only way to do is voting. Then what, call najib kor come and do his magic meh?

Sent from the black sea using GAGT

There are some, how much no idea.

Their intent is appropriate but their method does not guarantee their intended result. We are talking about freak election result here.:s12:

let it be, if people want PAP OUT, be prepare for the price.
last election we loss foreign ministers George Yeo, and bringing in 6 oppositions who do nothing?. now we are indeed facing foreign issue ,due to the loss of george yeo , he is trained and knowledgeable in this area but instead got kicked out . this is what you asked for. try kicking more key minister and you guy will feel the effect . the rich will just leave .
if economic fall, no one will benefit. you will fall back to factory work. mark my word.
no give chance? what do opposition do last election ? nothing.
this election ? even if opposition they win all sit, they be fighting who going lead, but wp is NOT WILLING . they wanted leech another 5year.
even if those rich think they can leave, they will never find a place as safe as singapore. no one benefit from a poor economic .
IF perfect timing , economic fall and nation unstable , your plate of food may be empty , that will be the time of all or nothing. it will cost you. never been in such situation before? just because its not happening in your time and it will not be happening?

btw go google George Yeo, he is making more money than being mps.
