So for the past couple of days i have engaged in hot debates with the people around me who all happen to be pro PAP (how is this even possible?!) If i have to come all the way here to create an account just to voice my displeasure at their deluded and conservative mindset, you can prolly tell how frustrated i am.

Many are voting out of indifference, or that they feel that MIWs have done a good job, or cos the opp is weak - even targetting LTK's poor presentation skills in parliament.

PLEASE FLOOD ME WITH GOOD REBUTTALS, as much as i'm tired of debating with them. Though they have admitted that they don't see eye to eye with all of PAP's policies, they honestly don't seem to find an issue with CPF / 6.9mil?! Maybe cos they are too myopic or too dumb to see long term?!

Oh i'm in my mid 20s anw. And my vote is definitely to the opp. Definitely not a pap ib, i'm way too sane to fall for a monopolized gvt.

Given that most citizen especially the older generation rely on the mass media for news and have been so for decades, it is tough to convey an alternate view coming from the internet.

Legit or not, tell me how are you gna rebut people who claim they take 'calculated risks', people who feel that incumbent has done a good job thus far so no need to rock the boat, and thinking that FT (not FW) aren't stealing our jobs..

Understand if they're older generation, but my friends are first time voters...

just let people vote for whoever they want loh. i dont see a need to go around convincing others to vote for xxx or yyy. at the end of the day, life still goes on anyway.

"Do you really want someone who can't even speak properly (referring to LTK) to represent your nation?"

lol this isn't even a challenge

Low Thia Khiang english is clearly not great, but he can whoop most people's ass in mandarin. So I will take your "friends" to mean would you want someone with bad english to represent you?

And the answer to that is why not? We practice a representative democracy, where you elect your representative. There are many people whose english are bad in singapore, but have good chinese. They may have the view that good chinese speakers with bad english are disenfranchised in say job seeking (esp during the china school v english school divide). Wouldn't Low thia khiang be a great representative of this interest?

Following this, there are also people who are bad in english and bad in chinese such as Lim Swee Suay, who has countless gaffes from better betterer betterest to well ... actually pretty much when he opens his mouth he shoots an own goal. So: Do you really want someone who can't even speak properly (referring to LSS) to represent your nation?

Flipping it around, we are entering an era where chinese is the most spoken language in the world. Wouldn't a good command of chinese be preferable in your representative? Would not Low Thia Khiang fit this? Confer with say Tony Tan's chinese, which is practically not present. Would you be asserting that Tony Tan is a bad representative for the nation? More so since he is a president representing the island as opposed to a mere MP of a GRC.

yes/no?
