Recently there's rumor Sony going to release entry level FF camera:
https://www.techradar.com/news/sony-a5-everything-we-know-so-far-about-the-rumored-full-frame-camera

Sub 1000 mean around S$1.5/1.6k, relatively affordable.

I'm not a professional, not even enthusiast, just a causal shooter.
My usage of camera restricted to snapshot and recording of personal memories to share with my families and friends.

Initially aiming for Sony A7III (to replace my current A6400) for this year NZ trip . Covid mess everything. Now targeting this A5 instead of more expensive A7III

Update 1:
Offical body only price: 1799USD

Update 2:
The latest update is around 2k USD, not 1k.
Announcement 15Sep, thats about a week away only

as you are not professional, a6400 is good enough for you. wait for newer apsc such as a6800 or a7XXX with 4k 120fps. ff's len is too expensive. 1 len costs $2k - $3k.

If you not satisifed with photo quality, then use raw and get better len such as sigma 16mm f1.4 or sony 16-55mm f2.8.

Waiting for the RX1R III leh....
I using A6500 with Sigma 16mm, 56mm, Zeiss 16-70 f4mm, Sony 35 f1.8mm during travel with family.
Shoulder breaking & seldom change the lenses during trip.

For casual usage, I rather you look at Fuji instead.

Im considering XT4 (hmm rather used to). Really like its internal 4k60P 10bit and love fuji colour science.

Unfortunately, XT4 price is more exp than FF A7III. $2.8k body, near 3.4k with kit. A7III $2.5k body, $2.9K with kit. I usually buy body only and look for a all round len to start with.

At around $3K, i want it to be brand new and come with local warranty. Im not interested in seller warranty or export set.

Already have the sigma 16mm and zeiss 16~70mm f4. Zeiss is my default and travel len.

It's my long term goal to upgrade to FF. Meaning even if i own a XT4 (very capable camera), i likely wouldn't be satisfy and will eventually upgrade (again).

A7III exactly match my need and budget, the only exception being no 4k60p and weaker AF compare to newer Sony camera. If not due to Covid, i would already be a proud owner of A7III

The A5 (now A7c) is a better version of A7III, rumor better AF but matching A7III body only launch price with kit.

At the same time, once offical, I'll be comparing it against the Panasonic S5 (2K USD).

Sony new Alpha FF camera with a super-compact body design

Sony A5 / A6 Rumored Specification
24MP Sensor
IBIS
4k 24p, 30p 8bit
LCD touchscreen Vari-angle
Compact body design
USB charging
Bluetooth & WiFi
Single Slot: SD/SDHC/SDXC/Memory Stick Duo Hybrid
Price approx $1400 [body-only]

http://thenewcamera.com/tag/sony-a5/

As long as the body is even smaller than the A7 series I think it is a winner already. 24MP is more than sufficient..

DPreview Link

So its offical, those interested i post DPreview link above.

The offical price is $1799 (body).
Given A6600 listed price of S$1999, we can expect S$2550 to S$2600 local price.

Almost similiar price/specs as compare to A7III. A7C gain newer AF, fully articulating screen, slice a few inches off its size and weight but loss additional card slot+joystick.

My personal view, given the price difference is insignificant, a7iii a generation behind, a7c is definitely a better deal. However at around 2.6k, this is almost but not quite reasonable.

Panasonic s5 is better overall. Although its AF cannot make it for video, at least it still offer an AF. Sony a7c being a 2020 camera only offer up till 8bit 4k30p, is unacceptable.
