Currently own a Sony 40inch TV which is used for abt 7 years. Jn went gain City to view 55inch sony 4k tvs. Got 2 version, smart and android. Smart is $1999(X7000) and android is $1979(X7500) , so price is abt same. Didn't take not of the model numbers but both got sticker say is 2018 versions. Which version shld i get? Android or smart?

You should get android but the price they gave you is too expensive.

LG UK6320PTE or Sony X7500F

Hi Guys,

Any thoughts on these 2 models?

I am planning to get a 55inch TV for my new place and i have narrowed down to LG UK6320PTE or Sony X7500F that is within my budget.
My usage is more of watching Netflix and Movies from my PC.

So far i have evaluated that:

Pros of LG: IPS panel, magic control, WebOS 2.0

Pros of Sony: better 4K upscaling processor, andriod OS

Put the movies in a USB flash drive, stick it in the TV's USB port and play using VLC etc. Sony android TV can handle some but not all depending on the resolution. High Resolution files which are 1080p and above may lag (badly).
SOC too slow. 720p and below should be ok.
Only Sony A9F and Sony Z9F can handle everything with the latest SOC.

But, if you mean that you are going to chromecast the movies to the TV where the processing is outsourced to your phone with a faster processor, then no issue.

No comment on the other TV except to say that WebOS is not a pro.
It is an OS with very limited app support.

For existing Sony android TV users, can the viu app be downloaded to the TV from the playstore? If not can the videos be played in the browser?

The difference in the OS performance between the A9F and older Sony Android TVs is extremely extremely huge.

Harvey Norman Suntec has a 65A9F placed right beside a 75Z9D. The same Sony remote can be used to control both. So you can easily verify their UI performance differences.

IMHO, unless you are going to use many of smart features on the TV, there is little reason to favour the newer model based on the better/faster navigation.

On the other hand, the demo clips on both TVs are quite similar so can easily compare their PQ. I find the Z9D vastly inferior.. especially in the area of contrast, color and image depth. The newer Sony is supposed to be better in fast motion scenes as well, but can't adjudge no thanks to the clips used.

You might want to actually run some intensive apps before coming to a conclusion. Eg. VLC/MX player with high resolution videos, android games etc.

If you just played around with just the UI in the store, I am sorry to say but you don't have the necessary experience with the TVs to make any good conclusion.

By the way, I own the A9F and I also own another Sony TV with the older chipset.

Point noted. Thanks.

Can you share your experience with the 65A9F?

Sony A9F is the king of TVs for 2018 as rated by experts. I agree with them.
There is no better TV than that A9F right now.

Best picture. Fastest processor. Best onboard sound. Best OS.
Nothing much else needs to be said. Its the best of the best right now.

Of course, you will pay more than other TVs for the pleasure of it.
