a premium design, two day battery, and waterproofing are all much welcome features. If you're happy to compromise on camera quality and call clarity in exchange for these, by all means consider the M4 Aqua as your midrange smartphone of choice. Just remember to also buy a microSD card.

just had this phone for 2 days and already regreting my purchase.
the internal 8gb of memory is rubbish as 4gb already taken up by OS and leftover 4gb in insufficient for my APPs.
Now my phone memory almost full! And this is considering that I have transferred all media to my SDcard!

Yes, 2Gb RAM.

IMHO, the M4 is better than G4 beat. More RAM, better camera and Gorilla glass. But screen is smaller. So depends on your priorities.

anyone with heat issues here? just got one for $0 from re-contract, and simple tasks like updating apps heats mine up to rather uncomfortable levels. i checked online and it seems the processor is culprit.

The Snapdragon 615 is known to heat up frequently, as seen in Xiaomi Mi 4i too.

As long as the heat does not cause the phone to shut down apps or anything like that there should be no cause for concern.

As far as I know (and browsing through XDA), there isn't a way to root the M4 Aqua without first unlocking the bootloader. I checked out the above video and the website that it links to, and it seems that you can't even access the link to download the file. I'm doubting the authenticity of the method.

Xperia Lollipop locked bootloaders are tricky to root and I don't think there's a root exploit yet. Current method is to first downgrade to a KitKat firmware, root the phone, then update to Lollipop via a pre-rooted firmware. But if the phone was released with Lollipop firmware (e.g. Z3+ or M4 Aqua), then basically you're stuck and have to wait for a root exploit that works for locked bootloaders.

Thinking of getting this phone, but a number of review say the screen is crap under sunlight. I am not very bothered by visual quality, just concerned if normal text in email can be read under bright sunlight with this phone. Any owners can feedback about this?

I got my Xperia M4 Aqua in July 2015, and regularly wash it under running tap (with a little hand soap). Unfortunately this time, I think it got wet inside because it won't power up fully. The Sony logo will come up and then disappear.

I can't remember if I ever registered Sony e-warranty. I still have SingTel Mobile receipt from the re-contract. Where can I send it for repair? Anyone has experience with the Sony Store at 313@somerset?

Sent there for repair, will take up to 2 weeks. They honor the warranty even though it's due to water damage (because the phone is supposed to be water resistant).

I will lose all my WhatsApp messages, very sad. Got work related and personal/family related pictures and info.

Once I collect it, going to sell it away. Some shops quoted $130 for trade-in.

the phone itself is only $298 without contract these days.
