android market is so skimpy. its like pasar malam compared to apple's supermarket.

or is there another place where we can find apps?

now it is like an expensive remote control. ok maybe a bit more than that.

maybe people can share what they do with this expensive toy?

Maybe you want to try the voice search app at the top left hand corner to test the mic..

I tried it to use it. The Mic works, but how?, i have feeling that it sound recorded is not good.

On Skype, As well I have tried "Echo/Sound Test service", so I recorded my own sound and play it back.
It looks work but it seems that some sound volume is changing on it's own during recording.

Is any one tried to use Skype so far on Sony Tablet S?
Just tried to understand if only I experience problem with Skype.

The good:
  • Light, good grip, size about right.
  • Quite a responsive hardware
  • PS certified
  • Screen resolution just nice for movies/video.
  • Excellent screen quality, vibrant colour
  • High customizability
  • Good video camera
  • Ton of free apps
  • Has green light blinking at the right side, showing notification for emails, updates, and stuff
  • Speaker can go really loud for the size of a device
  • Really fast web browser (In terms of loading up pages, but frame rate could get choppy at times)

The bad:
  • keyboard not as responsive like iPad (espcially for web surfing)
  • Can't transfer HD video bigger than 3.99GB
  • Free apps have annoying ugly ads
  • Poor apps optimization (Game like puzzle quest 2 doesn't feel as fluid like iPad-1's version despite being more powerful)
  • Doesn't come with micro usb cable. (This is my first android device)
  • Music player, sound quality suck, no bass enhancer.

The UGLY:
  • PS certified, yet SG region can't access PS Store (seriously wtf)
  • Poor battery life (1 night sucks out 25%?)
  • Wifi disconnects when screen is off but reconnect when you unlock tablet? (Its pretty annoying)
  • Some apps are region restricted, like reader, video streaming apps.
  • Could not register warranty

I cannot find the correct device in the setup. what did you use

I use "Others" for setting up my MioTV. I have to point the controller at the tablet. It registers if you see the tablet screen blinks.

The gotcha is you have to watch the TV screen when you do this because if the current context does not allow that button push in the remote then you will not be able to get the tablet to register it. I learnt that the hard way as I started with the MioTV menu and I could not program the numeric keypad values.

Cheers

You can change when the wifi disconnects. Settings>Wireless & networks > Wifi settings > wifi disconnection policy.

The serial number is the one at the back of the quick start guide. (the numbers below the bar code). Weird but I registered my warranty using that.

Any recommended accessories?

Just picked up the tablet s under the HSBC promo. My first tablet.
Got the SP from Sony Centre, found their cases of good quality but overpriced.
Any recommendations? I've found UK/US online retailers with limited range at high prices + shipping cost. Ebay has a nice selection but I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has the actual products.
Thank you.

HSBC Visa Infinite is offering the sony as one of two possible gifts. The annual fee is $248. So I guess you can say I paid $248 for this. But the Infinite card has got nice benefits too esp if you are frequent traveller, which I am ...
