Rumours from vietnam

2 X bigger sensor size. Hope its true and is using Exmor T, and give great photo quality and capture more natural light!! Also hope they give option to select between "computational photography" and what your eyes see at that moment, as well as outstanding Telephoto sharpness~

Also hope their newly designed cooling system surpasses all current mobile cooling systems! :p

Translation of the specs leaks from Vietnam, in full

More reveals about Walkman intervention on Xperia VII:

Hardware: Circuit rework, board, connectors, materials, and especially a high-quality 3.5mm jack.

Software: Still a long way to talk about it.

Good morning, everyone.

So, almost all information about the Xperia 1 Mark VII has been revealed by the Admin.

Summary:

Launch Info:

Official launch: May 15, 2025, globally. Sales begin right after in Japan and Taiwan.

Southeast Asia launch and sales: July 2025.

Available in three colors: Khaki Green, Black, and Purple.

Size: Similar to Xperia 1 Mark VI.

Price: Around $1400 USD.

Upgrade Highlights:

Design leans more toward Walkman style—more square, modified aspect ratio and camera bump, plus some small details.

New Snap elite chip.

Major audio upgrade, both hardware and software tuned by Walkman.

Enhanced AI features in the camera.

Telephoto sensor 2.1 times larger than the old one, with a longer focal length.

Battery lasts 5 hours longer than Mark VI.

OLED Full HD+ screen, 19.5:9 ratio, Sunlight Vision, Bravia Core support.

On eSIM:

Last year, the Admin conducted a survey on consumer preference for eSIM use.

Result: Most users prefer having both 1 eSIM and 1 physical SIM.

This survey was actually from Sony and conducted globally.

This indicates that Xperia might fully adopt eSIM in the near future, depending on demand.

As for whether the Asian version of Xperia VII will follow the 1-physical SIM model like Europe, it's still unconfirmed. Too early to say—things may change last minute.

Wait for official announcement

I got this feeling that camera won't have any major changes

Which one? Main should likely be the same but with small quality improvement , then both ultrawide & telephoto sensors will use bigger sensors as stated in the Vietnam sony group.

The person who reported has a real phone for around a month.

Seems like the battery capacity is lower than previous models
it's exactly the same batt as previous model according to the article. The nominal capacity is 5000mah.

i was hoping they can add another 100 to 300mah for a 2025 flagship phone. at least looks better on specs.

Better computational photography would be nice. At times you simply need to take a quick shot with no time to expose properly.

Would love to have the notification LED back, but this is extremely unlikely :(

The report states that battery life longer by 5 hours using same battery. Thats already insane increase and advancement.

Larger camera sensors, same battery capacity, 5 hours longer battery life, sounds phenomenal!

Exposure is long because it is a camera. Low light will have slower shutter speed and higher ISO.

Also , now the boring part:

So it's confirmed inside the private Sonyfans Vietnam group that the Xperia 1 VII will be released on 15/5 and will go on sale immediately in Japan and Taiwan/Hong Kong. Southeast Asia, particular in Vietnam, launch is set in July in all 3 colours (kaki green, black, ol' purple)

Will SG sell in May or July... Of course hoping for May. For you who want to buy, again remember to save up / set aside money for it! (Recommend $2400 prepare inflation including casing etc :p:p:p)
