Just received a notification on my 5 ii for update to "58.1.A.1.178" (709.8mb). It's not documented anywhere but it seems to be same as Xperia 1 ii's latest firmware version as well. Considering the file size, could this be Android 11? Anyone received the same?

Yes. Android 11.

Hi guys, check how do you all set and use the MR mode? It states "set" and after press OK what happens?

I cannot see what it does. Because after I set my settings and went to other modes and return back to MR mode the camera setting seems to reset.

Just checking, does anybody not receive whatsapp notifications when using xperia 5 ii? I upgraded to Android 11 but there are times I did not receive whatsapp notifications even though the messages were sent to me and I only realized it when my colleagues told me that they sent me a message.

But oddly enough, it is on and off. Most of the times, I still receive whatsapp notifications but sometimes notifications fail to show for some messages. I am using Starhub and my area reception is not 100% ideal so I wonder whether is my telco or handset problem

I faced the problems on and off as well, including SMS using Google Messages.
Sometimes, the SMS arrived late, but this could also be operator-end problem.

Thanks. Thought I am the only one. Has been causing me misunderstandings because ppl think I never check my phone but in reality, I was waiting for the notification...Basically the message has been received in Whatsapp but my phone didn't notify me

Feel like reverting back to my older XZ1 cause of this issue or switching to ST

Didn't encounter this issue with whatsapp. My messages come in on time. With singtel though.

Android 11's notification bar went through a big change. If you have a lot of "conversation" type notifications, some might not appear straight up. Though I don't think this is your problem, this may still be a useful info. Or you can try giving priority to specific conversations. Find out more here.

Is Xperia 5 ii worth buying? I was tempted by the 1 hand holding size, seems good battery, processor, 3.5mm, and of course the led notification led. Tradition but essential to me.

However the problems posted here and on the web seems to be serious, notifications, qr scanning, signals quality seems to be poorer than other phones?

The notifications is not Sony's fault, but Android 11. I had an XZ1C so using 5ii was a challenge, but compared to other big-screen phones out there, it is easier to hold with one hand due to its 21:9 ratio.

It is not only Sony phones.

S20 also had problems with whatsapp after updating to android 11, main settings for notification sounds always overwrite whatsapp's internal notification settings. It used to be separate settings where you can choose different notification sounds from main ones.

Thanks. Done that, but seemed still need Google Lens within the default camera app. A "square" appears on screen to focus on the QR code using Google Lens. Else nothing at all when I train the camera on the QR code.
