It's not a need but rather nice to have. As well as the other nice to haves 3.5 jack, micro sd, etc to justify the flagship price.

MWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA heres my recording! Using video pro set 4k 30 fps seamless zoom enabled. ISO and shutter auto , brightness to 3/4 . H264 quality. I recorded 20 minutes plus but stopped recording haha 🤣🤣 Was a quite windy day (today 4.30 pm ) Heat warning prompted at around 2 minutes into recording. My Bluetooth was connected, LTE enabled (my normal bring out work and interact mode ) closed all applications wanted to play music while recording but unable to. It synced to my recording at the same time! Heat was warmer than usual but just by a bit (similar to my photo pro heat ) phone case was my normal transparent case.

ok so what's your conclusion...? still got heat warning prompt but it just goes on recording...?

can record 20 mins if close all other applications?

phone still feels hot?

Its just slightly warmer than normal phone in pocket. Meaning I can hold my phone as normal but I think Sony was being caution here not to burn users hands thus gave that warning, I'm very suprised actually. Its greatly controlled!

Yes heat warning prompt was there but as you can see from the screenshots I recorded over 20 minutes with my phone working as normal. (Not in flight mode but LTE mobile data with Bluetooth connected and synced with the recording of sound .)
But prior to the trial I restarted my phone and cleared all the background applications. Phone started off with 100 percent, completed my recording left around 86 percent.

My phone display refresh rate is 60Hz. I think display did dim a bit but not by much (I'm not really sure did it dim or not to be honest 😅)
Recording quality medium (4.5mb per sec) HDR off (default mode but its already very good)

I also played around with the seamless zoom a bit and set to 25 mm and recorded till I finish my clip.
