Going to get XZ2 later and now backing up my M5, realized it doesn't work with Helium and the Sony Transfer app doesn't transfer existing applications.

What do you guys use to transfer old apps and data, without rooting?

Google can help. Last time I activate my Z5P and all the apps installed in my Z2 were automatically installed in new phone.

Just bought the XZ2 Compact last week. Loving the small form factor, fits better in the pocket for sure.

Too bad thought the latest android could offer the same backup as iOS iTunes and restore fully

Guess android after so long still can’t match iOS backup and restore

Yup, doesn't backup apps at all it seems. Just contact list, files/photos etc. Apps restoration appears to be based on apps doing backup to google drive then pulling the backup when reinstalled. So if the app is no longer available on play store, is gg.

No need to compare a backup that only works with PC. :D

One fully functional backup/restore option that just works on a PC without hacking, is still better than multiple half fugged options and options which cannot be used without wiping the device first.

Not true, there's iCloud that works the same as iTunes.

Eats data or just find WiFi hotspot. Convenient?

I could just save my files and backup most of the things in SD cards.

Most of the apps and games will have saved the data in their servers, so the need to backup app data is getting lesser.

Backup and restore from SD card without PC or wifi hotspot, not easy?

Give and take? Use a different OS (closed system) just for the sake of backup feature?

Your choice. :D

I quoted you because you mentioned the key word 'only' which is not true.
And what is wrong with doing backup using wifi where I believe most of the people will naturally do such things at home?

That's why I use IOS for my personal phone :D

Android needed for my work so at least can feel like I'm paid to deal with the nonsense.

Too bad Sony phones are not as popular. I used the XZ2 Compact and currently reviewing the OP6. If you don't mind a smaller screen the XZ2 Compact is a way better value for money.

Comparing base model on both, the cheapest I've seen OP6 64gb is around 780 during qoo10 sale. XZ2 Compact going for 698 with the sony promo recently.

Processor is the same. Base storage is same. XZ2C has the option of choosing expandable storage or Dual sim. OP6 is only dual sim.

Software wise they're both very clean. OP6 oxygenos is a bit nicer in terms of the customisation options, but performance feels about the same on both. Sony is good at security patches these days too.

Durability wise OP6 no official IP rating, glass back. XZ2C has IP65/68 rating, plastic back, so less likely to break.

OP6 speaker is located in an easy to block location, sounds tinny too. XZ2C has stereo front firing speakers. OP6 has headphone jack though, but not a big deal to me.

Op6 screen is AMOLED which i prefer, but outdoor visibility isn't really that great. Something I've noticed with their displays since OP3 is that when under bright light, it looks a bit greyish? not sure how to explain it. Like when the screen is off, and under bright light, it's not as dark as a lot of other phones I've used. Maybe they cheap out on the polarizer or what. So even though is amoled, the blacks don't look deep outdoors compared to other phones. Indoors looks great though.

battery life wise, i got better battery life with the XZ2 Compact actually despite it being smaller.

The biggest thing is just the screen size difference. XZ2C screen might not suit everyone. But if you don't mind it, the XZ2C is really great value for money. :s12:

Itunes is backup using PC, Icloud is backup using online server.
I stand by my statement correct.

Yes, that is quite common. I also carry two phones with me.

For comparison purpose, if you mention the same os then it would be obvious which is better or worse. :D
