Need some advice. Just power on an old pc that was on for a long time. It is running on window 10. It has no sound now. But using the handphone jet there willl be sound.in the headphone. Wondering its a driver issue or it's a hardware issue. Any idea. Thanks.

Model of the laptop? Have you tried installing the audio driver?

Thanks for reply. I think I will try to reinstall the driver again tonight. Think I will remove the default window 10 driver and download the related driver to try. Its a very old laptop acer aspire 5930g. Still can use it for zoom hence did not decommissioned it. But speaker problem will be headache as will always need headphone for zoom

The laptop is very old, the hardware is Intel Core 2 duo support Windows Vista (Not 7).
I cannot find driver for this laptop probably discontinued.
If you upgrade from Vista/7 to Win 10, suggest do a clean install if you want to salvage the laptop.

However such old hardware I doubt Win 10 can support it especially the audio driver.
Most PC whether laptop or desktop if you plug in should have jack sensing.

But for this work the correct driver have to be installed.
Either for full functionality get a second hand laptop that support Win 10 from Laptop factory outlet.
Or you have to use USB headphone/headset or speaker since there are no drivers for this laptop.

Reinstall driver does not work. No sound from laptop speaker. Only got sound from headphone 3.5 mm jet. Think it's a hardware failure of the laptop speaker. Thanks to all for responding.
