Hi,

I am doing a dual monitor setup with a new computer. (XiaoMi 34 Inch curved monitor)

A soundbar or bookshelf speaker better for watching show/movies?

Budget is around $300-$400

Thanks in Advance

This one must choose a Bookshelf that has a clearer vocal sound signature.

Soundbar will need extra sub woofer.

I suggest you go Harvey Norman or Challenger to test the soundbars. The waveform not for everyone.

Personally I'm using a $30+ creative d something something soundbar because I like that it has very strong mids. Reminds me of last time ATP3.

Hint: The soundbar

the soundbar is so bad? hahaha
bookshelf speaker has to be pointing towards the user for better performance right? i scared with 2 monitors the distance might be a bit far hahahah

Soundbar also need to point towards the user for better performance

Speakers also need to be apart for better performance. But soundbar stuck in center

If someone have katana (or any soundbar similar can share)

1. Does it need an additional power point to power the device?

2. It works with audio jack ?

3. When turn on does it makes sound?

4. When it detects no connection does it make sound, standby or turn off itself?

5. Does it turn itself on when it detects a connection?

Reason i ask because i am used to monitor having speakers now my xm 34" no speakers and i test those portable speakers... Either during power on it is too loud or during no connection(eg i off my monitor) it makes alot of sound.

probably first 2.

3rd, no indication will there be a sound (i do not want sound). LED is fine.

Yup first 2...

I think you can find video review and usually will know if it makes any sound powering up(I doubt so)..

If it's being market for use with tv like all soundbars out there,

Q4: should go into standby without sound
Q5: yes if it's standby mode

That's how my ex sony sb and current sonos beam behaves.
