Your speakers need to has the built in decoder chip for Dolby Digital Live And DTS Connect else
it won't sound as intended.

This is a hard question to answer, but since you asked:

1) Depends on what your receiver can support. z906 can support both.
2) DTS Connect has higher bitrate than DDL.

Remember to not turn on DTS NEO for music playback since it is said to make it sound worse, although I guess there is no harm to try.

Ultimately, since your speaker can support all combinations, just give it a try.

when the encoder is off, listen to the source
then select the decoder to one of the digital format, listen to the difference then choose one which sound effects the best.

take note your Z906 should switch to "DECODE" mode automatically (see your controller status).

Logitech Z906 is currently connected via Optical Audio to Soundblaster Z soundcard.
Movies turn ON Encoder will slow down as websites said.
However turn ON Encoder for all music sources no problem.

Err.. have you update the driver and the software?
Cuz for newer driver release, it is not using SBX studio but Sound blaster command
for Win 10.

You are using on Intel/AMD PC? Creative soundcards have known issue on AMD especially
running on XMP profiles.

Not sure what exactly is the issue cuz for me I do have a SBZ but running on Intel.
I have stop using the card cuz the driver to me isn't prefect, currently using ASUS onboard SupremeFX
which have a much better sound quality than the dated SBZ.

so far only affect VLC playing blu-ray movies.
