SP account, defects checking & key collection

Hi, just like to ask, for those who have collected their bto keys before, is it recommended to open an SP account online prior to keys collection to be able to do the defects check on the same day right after keys collection?

Or better to open the SP account on the day of keys collection instead?

Kindly advise. Thanks!

your concern is about doing defect check including the water/power? You can lar, but within a year its covered under defect check.

Anyway opening the account is a must so if you feel like you want to get it done earlier, just apply for it once you have your details and make sure it's done at least 1 business day ahead.

Sorry, digress a little bit. What about resale ? Do I need to change my IC official address before I apply for SP account and appointment date ?

Yup2. Otherwise, if opening the account on the day of key collection itself, there won't be water/power yet?

Correct me if i'm wrong.

also quite wrong that you need to bring your own screw driver, i remembered on the day of collection i already had the handle for the water pipe given.

U referring to SP Group website right?

"You MAY need to attach documents such as property tax or proof of ownership."

SP group stated MAY, not must..

If my memory serve me correctly, the screwdriver is need to secure the handler. Else anyone who open up ur riser will be able to take away the handler. Yes, my bto fb group got 2 persons reported missing handler cause never use screwdriver to secure it..

Screwdriver is also use to tap on tiles for hollow sound check..

oh yar forgot there is a screw there. what i did was after turning on the water, i take away the handle and put the screw back. handle can keep inside home.

As mentioned in post #11, have to do the following steps?


- Remember to OPEN your letter box first to retrieve your Water Supply instructions before you head up to open door.
- Turn on the Water Supply by following the instruction you just retrieve in your letter box
- Turn on the electricity by flipping up the 2 flip

If you need to have water & electricity, then u need to do the steps lo..
