Spending 1D Weekend in JB

Hi Peeps,

In my previous post, I seeked advice regarding buying infant milk in JB and got great tips from forum mates. I really appreciate the replies.

I'm planning to spend a 1D trip to JB with my family during the coming school holidays. Will be bringing my 2 young kids along. Planned itinerary:

-bus to JB (public transport)
-grocery (infant milk, commodities)
-seafood lunch
-movies/cinema
-arcade/fun activities for my young kids

Will be coming from Jurong East Area. Any advice in going there (transport, fare, directions); shopping centres to head to (cinema, grocery, arcade) & cheap and good seafood resto.

Since you are in Jurong East area, you might want to go to Bukit Indah from JE bus interchange, take the causeway link...

There is Jusco, shopping centre with food, cinema and A&W...

Agree. Just take the CW3 bus from Jurong East Interchange, which will take you directly to Aeon Bukit Indah.

Cinema, Jusco, Popular, Daiso, A&W, etc.

This should be the most convenient while having 2 young kids with you.

Now to find out if there are arcade or playground in Bukit Indah to keep the kids busy

Also, how much for the fare going to there?

I recall having seen a small play area or arcade in the children's department in Jusco. Not sure if there are any other kiddy stuff around.

Fare is S$4 per adult from here, RM5 from Bukit Indah.

Alight at Taman Bukit Indah. The stop is obvious. Perling Mall is a different place altogether. Check out Google Maps.

Alight at the Bukit Indah stop. You should be able to see the Aeon Bukit Indah building from the main road, before the bus turns at the junction.

I normally alight at their last stop which is Giant, then shop and make my way to Tesco, and then Aeon Jusco. But I won't recommend you to try that with 2 kids in tow.

Can anyone advise if I intend to bring family go in Legoland Malaysia (F&E) maybe from morning to late afternoon, then engaged ourselves in some shopping after that including having cheap & good dinner there before making our way home back to Singapore. Is there any service that I can engage (Car + driver) for say maybe the whole day/ itinerary? My friends said I could go take a JB cab from this place near Sungei Road but I'm not sure how much such an arrangement will roughly cost & is it safe/ reliable as bringing in young kids & hopefully don't get stranded there...

All advice & suggestions are welcomed, TIA.

The Singapore-Johor Baru Taxi Service operates from Queen Street terminal. You can negotiate with the drivers at the terminal, but only the Malaysian drivers can take you on your itinerary. It is reliable since these drivers are properly registered. On the other hand, it is cheaper to engage private (possibly unlicensed) service providers.

Our JB trip is next week! I'm preparing my family's itinerary and getting prepared as much as possible (Baby things, etc)

Really excited about this, I'm hoping we can get a good family bonding time together. Hope the weather is nice as well (fingers crossed)

Do you mine hiring a day trip vehicle to take through the whole day? I understand from my office cleaner that she does this once a month, pay $200 for a 10 seater to ferry her relatives around to shop and eat

Off-peak hours, it takes about an hour to get to Jusco.

Giant is about 15 minutes or so walk from Jusco, but it may take around that same time or longer on CW3 because the bus will go to other places before Giant.

Weekend doesn't necessary mean jam. I've gone with some friends on a Saturday... think we're at JE about... 10am. Reached there in about an hour.

Jam will more be like human jam at the JB CIQ - which is quite small - when you get lots of tourists arriving in bus loads, at the same time it's off-peak for the bus schedule so it's not as frequent.
