Just noticed SQ are offering unlimited complimentary rebooking if you book by Feb 28 (this coming Sunday). With the way the world is these days it seems a good way to start to dream about travel again without financial risk.

Details here:

Flights Singapore to Japan here:

I travelled to/from the UK via Fukuoka-Singapore-Fukuoka late last year and I'm just about to book again for summer this year

Happy travel dreams!

For now, all overseas travels are just a dream. Mandatory quarantine and SHN is like a temporary prison sentence, except that you don't have to worry when you pick up the soap. :D

I just booked my flight to UK for June: Fukuoka-Singapore-Manchester-Singapore-Fukuoka. Fingers crossed things will be better by then because based on current restrictions I'll need to spend 17 hours sitting in special covid-lounge in your airport then 10 days UK quarantine and 10 days quarantine in Japan too :s22:

Japan is doing OK too. In fact deaths in 2020 was actually lower than the previous year

"The number of deaths in the nation last year decreased by 9,373, or 0.7%, from a year earlier to 1,384,544, down for the first time in 11 years"

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2021/02/23/national/coronavirus-japan-deaths-2020/

I'm also hopeful about the vaccine rollout. I think the end of a tough year is in sight but of course nobody can predict the future.

Were there any shops open at Changi? When it was fully operational, 17hrs can pass by quite fast. Boris mentioned this summer in the UK will be vastly different, so fingers crossed. The UK in Spring and early Summer can be very uplifting.

IIRC if you travel now, you are not allowed to ride on public transport from the airport, so there goes $200-300 one way.

I passed through at the end of last year and spent about 8 hours in the quarantine lounge. It has a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, I had access to wide range of delivery food, free WiFi, places to sit or sleep, TVs to watch, laptop workstations. Honestly speaking it was a pleasant, relaxing experience.

I always try to target my summer UK arrival for June 21 (I'll arrive June 22 this year). It goes light around 3.30AM and doesn't go dark until nearly 10PM at night. As you say, "uplifting". That's why I stopped going home at Christmas time if possible, where the opposite is true; not getting light until around 8AM and dark by 4PM, cold, wet and miserable.

My "uplifting" months are April to early June. End June onwards the weather tends to get hot, which is still better compared to hot and humid here. Boris mentioned a different summer this year so let's hope so. Your Rishi is making sound changes to the budget plans.

Are there plans by the local authority for your family and friends there to get vaccinated?

My parents had both jabs more than a month ago so protection already kicked in thankfully. Based on the sluggish pace of roll out here in Japan I'm expecting to get my jab in the UK when I go back in summer before my turn comes around here.
