I updated my BIOS and Intel RST, but now SSD caching has stopped working.

When I set it up in Enhanced mode (for both 18GB or 64GB) and restart Windows fails to boot.

When I get to the into the Ctrl-I RAID menu I get the message:

"Cache device associated with accelerated disk/volume is not present"

Both my SSD and Windows HDD then show as "Disabled". In order to enable to HDDs I have to disable Acceleration.

I use a Biostar TZ68 board with Crucial M4 64GB SSD.

I do not know how to solve this problem. Any ideas?

Revert to last Intel RST version that was working and see if it helps.

When I previously tried SSD caching, I recall that it only works with board manufacturer drivers and not Intel's.

Thanks for the reply.

I actually downloaded the drivers and Intel RST from the Biostar website. So the drivers should be appropriate.

Also the reason i updated drivers was because I recently set up two HDDs in RAID 1 but experienced problems - sudden intermittent CPU spikes causing slowdown. The reason was outdated driver. Updating the driver fixed the problem. So I am reluctant to go back right now.

It could be that some remnants of the original SSD caching setup still remain causing some kind of conflict. Is there any recommended way of wiping/formatting the SSD - sort of resetting it to zero? I understand normal Windows format is not good for SSD.

Just don't do a FULL FORMAT and the SSD will be fine.

Ok so formatting the drive did not work.

Any other ideas? Is the diskpart utility superior to the Windows format? If I want to reset the driver using diskpart what should I do?
