SSD for gaming rig

on my macbook air i can feel the difference.

on my desktop with specs on the right no i cant feel any difference especially since w8.1 starts up so damn fast i cant even get into the bios most times cause it skips the rog post screen.

maybe its a new hdd and empty thats why its still fast

Not because it's SSD or not, but because it is Windows 8.1. Microsoft was sensible enough to remove most of the bloatware for startup, most of those Windows apps only startup when u need so. Try booting Windows 7 on HDD, and see if u still cant feel the difference...

i dont doubt windows 7 but 8.1 then no difference. that said i do have an ssd as my boot drive + games

SSD isn't a need ! but its an enhancement, for its price point its a definite must have especially for windows files and maybe certain gaming, if there is enough space and if your under a tight budget.

SSD is totally new technology (no disk, just ICs) compared to the stocky HDD which is a physical writing on a disk, therefore in terms of speed of writing and reading there is no comparison, my advice is to get a 128gb and place your window folders in there first. If there is enough space to accommodate a game or two then place it in your SSD as well.
