Just got a Ssd from lazada and used it on my old rig. Work like magic, increase boot up and read write speed a lot. Those of you looking for an upgrade, should consider Ssd as top priority upgrade to old rig.

* two options to transfer operating system to Ssd:
A. Clean installation of windows.
B. Clone hdd to Ssd.

Ps: a lot of old birds here already know how Ssd perform.
Just a sharing from newbie like me on rig upgrading.

I would say changing from a normal hdd to a SSD yield more performance that you can notice than changing from a cpu socket to another cpu socket.

Beyond sata SSD, the speed improvement effect is barely noticeable in day to day usage.

Congrats on your upgrade.

Anyway, the bottleneck in a PC is always the hard drive. The mechanical drive is the only device in a modern day PC that have not seen much of an upgrade/ improvement. There are some attempts to improve it, but compared to an SSD with negligible seek time, the mechanical drive is clearly no match no matter what trick they can pull. ;)

C Gate will disagree sir. It insists that SSHD is almost comparable in performance, and with lower cost per storage unit.

Just saying...

Depends which socket.

Socket 370 to LGA 2011?

Soon it will be those HHHL peeps telling us to jump ship lolol.
Won't la :s13:

So far even the fastest M.2 Samsung SM951 only split second to few seconds faster than mainstream ones in loading speed. :(
