SSD interface format : Help needed

Hi all

I've salvaged a SSD from a Lenovo X1 carbon (It was a POS laptop to be honest).

I'm trying to either find a adapter to make it an external SSD or to SATA interface. I bought this m2 adapter (GPGT above) thinking it would fit. But note the red circles.

The SSD seems to have more connectors on the bottom end than the adapter.

I googled for images but no luck at the moment. Anyone of u know what format is this SSD in and what adapter do I need?

No, is a standard one. Depend on which model of X1 carbon. Older one use M.2 SATA interface. New one use NVMe (PCIe) interface. They are not interchange to each other.

Take note some Lenovo PC use shorter size of M.2 SATA Eg T440/T450. They are 2242 ie 42mm vs 80mm in yhe picture. AND T460 and higher model use same 2242 size but NVMe PCI interface. This is where is slot on yhe socket come into play.

the 2 m.2 slots should be physically identical. thats the point of the m.2 socket, whether it works with sata and nvme or nvme only is just a controller's difference. if it doesnt fit then its not m.2

If my m.2 ssd has both M and B key, does it work with a PCI-E adapter that only has M key?
