I have an old 1st gen i7 laptop running on a mech hdd. I'm planning to migrate to an SSD but I'm not very sure how to do it.

Is it i get an SSD hook up using SATA-USB then use the manufacturer's migration software can liao? or need some funky steps? The recovery partition will also migrate over right?

Depending on the software used, you may or may not has the option to just clone the OS partition.

I have the necessary hard ware for migration so no need to worry abt that.

My laptop has a recovery partition on the HDD itself so the migration software will take care of that as well?
