i just bought my ssd from amazon on july sandisk extreme 240gb it failed on me 1 week ago it is quite expensive $229 it is not readeble in bios and in my computer i guess it might be dead is there anyway to fix it?

I would say if its the Sandforce model, you probably should return it on the basis of product DOA and get another SSD that's more reliable.

Sandforce SSDs use reference firmwares from LSI (parent company) with small modifications and the reference firmware ish cui. The TRIM issues took ages to fix and still not near perfection, not reliable.

I'm not sure if it came with the old defective firmware out of the box.

My opinion is that you probably should just return it and get something with a much better track record from SSD makers like Samsung, Intel, Micron who are also among the largest OEM SSD suppliers.

Does Sandisk Extreme uses the LSI chipset? I had thought that they use their own properitary chipset.

Intel solution does use the LSI chipset.

Can I suggest that you leave the computer with the SSD attached powered on for a while. And after about 3 minutes, do a warm reboot and see if you can detect the SSD. Do not do a cold reboot.

Not sure if this will help, but if it is dirty power down, it will help rebuilt the FTL table and you should be able to detect the drive again. You may have instances of forced shutdown previously that may have caused this issue.
