Have encountered so many times the stupid OBU failed to read since the installation back in Oct 2024.

The number of failures in this short few month is more than the total number of times i have encountered with the old IU since 1998.
uncle chiu drive since 1998? chiu how old now :(

I still cannot believe which LTA scholar approved the placement of the unit. Scholars all use chauffeurs and don't need to mess with cashcards?
cannot be, as the chauffeurs will feedback to them will cause those scholars to be late for their appointment if OBU haywire. So must be those scholars only take train so OBU does not impact them

We just had GE right? No one cared right? So why talk about it now? Already had a chance to stop it, but sinkies don't care.

1.8% defect rate... can only claim six sigma level 3... very far from level 4 and above standards...

LTA advised motorists who experience issues with their OBUs to return to the workshops that installed the units. This is because those workshops would have the necessary records “for more effective troubleshooting”.

“In a small number of cases where more specialised attention is needed, the workshop may refer motorists to another workshop with the relevant expertise,” the authority added.

lol LTA push ah push. push to everyone else except to themselves
As usual LTA JLB.. is obviously hardware or software issue. Taiji to 3rd party workshop installer for fug??

Tiagong from insider info is they already spent so much on this outdated piece of OBU sh1t project so they cannot just shelve it under carpet and abandon project. So they no choice just to roll it out despite the issues and problems with this piece of crap

Everytime as a passenger, my leg alwaysbrub against the annoying hot processing unit. Dunno why so hot. What the heck is it processing. Consuming energy and draining battery leading to poorer fuel consumption.

Old IU is working well, till greed sets in, want to charge by milage. The milage tracking accuracy also questionable. To date, LTA has not stamp and chop how repeatable the milage tracking accuracy is.

each time go need to waste time queuing waiting 4-6 hrs

LTA think people have so much time?
Must charge back the time spent to them. 1 month of Free ERP pass through for each time the unit needs to be sent back to the workshop.

one mistake LTA made was to allow outside workshop to install OBU.... and what those workshop did was mess up the wiring and electronics of the vehicle, especially those cars that are still under car manufacturer warranty.
AD can reject warranty claim for whatever mess outside workshop did and then everyone make big big hoohaa.

That is prolly why LTA say go find workshop yourselves. they dun wanna kenna this type of issues.

but no choice, 1 million cars in just a few years, ADs alone cannot handle la. that's why get outside workshop to help.

Best is to have the obu installed at AD imo
Go AD is foc??

Not a workshop issue imho.

Although mechanics in different workshop have different skill levels, generic mounting of the 3 piece system and hooking them up to the fuse box is a simple job. Of course, there's a possibility that the mechanic did a sloppy job.

In this scenario, generally, workshops dun want to kio sai (for free some more) for other workshops who might have done such sloppy jobs. Or the car owner might have tampered with the installation, repositioned it themselves etc, then kenna issue anyhow say the original workshop never do properly, and ask workshop 2 to fix for free.

All that said, most of the issues mentioned seem to be problems with the new OBUs hardware themselves.

Where it says some of the installed OBU hardware needs to be replaced, this one confirm is the OBU hardware issue.

Display showing that the system freeze at boot up is also an OBU hardware issue. For this case, actually the display unit is working fine, it's the main processing unit that is freezing. Display unit just showing what the main unit outputs.

The other problems where some carparks cannot detect the OBUs, this one seems more like the issue is with the carpark gantry. I see replacement works for the gantries at many carparks over the past couple of years. Maybe there some new hardware/firmware required but these carparks have not upgraded/replaced the older ones yet.

Of course special installations like those workshops who can help mount inside glove box, this type considered specialized attention. Not all workshops can do.
I believe it is a very simple connection, only for LTA to talk until very complicated to make believe it is an extremely complex device.

I have not seen the actual unit straight from the box. Best guess it has only 3 wires to be connected, +12v, -12v (ground) and signal (connect to the car's acc to detect car starting, to "wake up" the unit).

The other wires should be already in the standard ready to plug connectors for the display and antenna to the OBU.

1.8% defects imho = failure.
There are probably more that lived with it to avoid inconvenience.
I cant understand why they need rush to implement it. If its not working then keep at it until it becomes practical.
And they have unlimited funds to get it right.
