Stable OC for 9900K!!

HI.

My pc:

9900K 5G OC manually overclocked to 5ghz

LLC level 6,all power limit maxed,sync all cores 50,core voltage 1.330V.

2x16GB DDR4 3000MHZ GSKILL

Asus Prime Z390-A

Aorus 2080 Ti Xtreme, stock

Corsair 850RmX

Pc is rock stable i think. I played on that settings 2 months in all games no whea. Today i played again Battlefield 5 and after 2 months, 1 WHEA 19 Logger Internal Parity Error,appeared. So question. Should i bump up voltage to 1.335V or ignore or low frequency to 4.9ghz?



Cpu cooler- Noctua NH-D15. Temps in game 70-80C.

Bios updated. Maybe just go to 4.9ghz,doubt i see any differences? Like i said it popped up after 2 months today without any warning on 5ghz.

So i went to 4.7ghz on 1.29v :) Hope all be fine even after 2-6 months without 1 whea. What you guys think?

There's such a thing called degradation if you push your CPU too far.

With high voltage and heat, Overclock will slowly become unstable and you will not reach that previous OC anymore. Aka die slowly.

But if it's unstable, just increase voltage and run Stress test for at least 12 hours.

Since you are at the high end of overclock for 9900k the recent update of windows 10 security patches may have affected you processor and the 5ghz may no longer be stable at that voltage.

Your temp looks okay (Don't know about your vrm), as long max 80 degree, longevity likely not be an issue
Then again, since you can afford 9900k, even if you at 100 degree for 3 full years, also np. At most buy another cpu.


For stability, just up the voltage and see how

So i am on 4.7 ghz on 1.290v. What you think guys whea not appear after 2-6 months again?

No on stock is 3.6 ghz. Now i have 4.7 on all cores. SYNC all cores 47 . Its ok?

I know my 9700k does 5.0Ghz across all cores at 1.33V with Prime 95 and Intel Burn Test running for 6 hours straight.

The 9900k is hard to clock high because you'll run into a thermal wall before anything else.

You really need to tune and understand your 9900k.

There is no 1 setting to set it all. There are a lot of things around to tweak before you say "ok its stable"

Im rocking at 5ghz 1.31v on all cores. But since im doing video encoding that requires AVX instructions, my AVX offset is at 4.8Ghz. Ring Ratio set at 4.7Ghz.

Do note that doing 5Ghz, 5.1Ghz and 5.2Ghz with above 1.3v vcore you need good cooling. Without adequate cooling, you will definitely hit high 90s to 100degC.

9900k is harder to OC than 9700k or below.

With my custom loop, video encoding 4k can hit easily low 80s at a hot day. But im fine with it. And it does well even if it is at 4.8Ghz.

Gaming daily, it barely hit 65degC. Doing mid 50s most of the time.

For your case, if you are on 1.33v for 5ghz, you are better off lowering your clocks down to 4.9Ghz. Doing 4.9Ghz you can lower down your vcore tremendously to 1.29v-1.31v range. Doing so, not only you save a lot of power, your cpu runs cooler and easier to run stable.

You are not too far off from a 5Ghz clock speed. Sometimes OC is not about hitting highest possible speed. Is more about balancing performance, power target, and cooling.

Run a few stability test program for at least 4hrs each. If it passes, then you are good to go.

Few questions.
On 5ghz with voltage 1.320v i had very rarely Whea Logger 19 Internal Parity error during game in Metro Exodus.
So rarely like 1 pop up Whea in 1 month.
Also on Realbench on 1.320v i had Whea Logger 19 Cache Hierarchy Error.
So i bumped to 1.330v and 2 months was fine. But yesterday in Battlefield 5 Whea Logger 19 Internal Parity error pop up in Battlefield 5 on 1.330V.

And my question. Is Whea Logger 19 Internal Parity Error related to insufficent Vcore ? Cache hierarchy the same?

Last question.
Now i have cpu in 4700mhz. But this is underclock right? Because all cores running on 4700mhz. On stock cores running on 4700mhz but 2 cores on 5000mhz.

Please share opinions.

i got the same result as urs...tried 5.1 but i feel like too risky when it hit 92°C most of the time so lower down to 5ghz and happy with it
