You can do what you deem fit for yourself. Others are free to do what they prefer. Anyway the account dun go negative, ie no fees if kept at $0.

may not be the same accounts but my scb xtrasaver account went negative once.

i always leave my xtrasaver account (cheque acct) at zero and only transfer when i need to issue a cheque,

there was once i issued a cheque and transferred the money only from my esaver after midnight that day as i forgot about it and was charged a fee of $100+

my xtrasaver became negative then :s13:

To qualify it did not go negative because of fall below fee.

I have not seen a bank account going negative. So that is not really relevant. I am just showing the benefits of my suggestion. Of course you can do whatever you want.

I don't get it. I do not have any account with Stanchart at present. I applied for the esaver online outside of office hours. Got a ref number and then nothing. Applied again during office hours. Got another ref number and then nothing again. What am I supposed to do? Go down to their branch? If they aren't going to be arsed to follow up on online applications, why do they even put that "application form" online?

Are all Temasek owned banks so f**k up? CIMB actually give a **** about people who apply for accounts online, unlike local banks.

yes, you have to go down and do manually.

I applied online as well, but no email or message, just a ref number at the end of page. Next day I just go to the branch and open nia.

Can sic procedure?

Check their min sum to maintain when opening account. I think is 1K for e-save if you do not have any account with them. For me, I have Account with them, they just ask me for token sum of one dollar to open the account and I can do internet banking to transfer fund from other account to the new E Saver account. For BOC, must have min 1.5k cash/cheque to open new account

Qn: when is the best time to withdraw the funds fr esaver a/c to place in other e-saver a/c?

Last day of the month? Or 1st day of next month?

sould not matter because interest is daily rated?

In a dilemma.

Withdraw on last day: forgo last day's interest but start next cycle with clean slate.

Withdraw on first day of 3rd month: full interest but adb for subsequent cycle not zero...

Is my analysis correct?

None! :D

I just go in and ask for account opening.

edit: i dont have any account with them either, so it is a new account opening. Just need some verification from your IC eg, address etc, then sit there wait awhile, while they try to pester you some other different account, eg SCB bonus saver.

As he said, CIMB do support fresh savings account to be created through pure online application, which is much more convenient for the customer.

Sent from Samsung SM-G900F using GAGT

Sometimes we need to get off the high horse and suck it up. A lot of inconvenience but that is how some banks work.

If going down the branch is so much of a trouble, just avoid the bank altogether.

CIMB is a smaller bank so obviously their account openings could be made less stringent to attract more clients. Also, they have a few branches only.

You need to do your Maths and think carefully.

For large balance and if you are relying on funds transfer, you should withdraw partially early.

Not correct. Of course better to transfer on the 1st day of the new promotional period. ADB in the previous month for the 2nd account is zero if you did not have any $ in the 2nd account for the entire month.
