Amount withdrawn from esaver will not earn interest. Cheque deposited into HSBC before 3pm will earn interest on 31 Jan although the cheque is cleared on 1 Feb.

if going for the step up promo, depositing on 31Jan would mean the bonus rates are for Jan (ie 1 day only), Feb & Mar ...

Call scb for your dec ADB to calculate if correct interest is credited.

jialat, now scb says their record shows i am on 1.6% promo therefore interest credited is correct.
how can it be?! when 1.68% was credited in earlier months !
now i have to highlight to them those months to show it is 1.68% !

scb a bit screwed up..last time they gave me promo interest for a esaver account with little money in it and no promo interest for another esaver acct with a much larger amount.

they finally paid me back the $1k+ interest but for a while there, i thought they were not going to and i was going to close all my scb accts

I am appalled by their heywire record!
my account can jump from Feb promo to Jan promo within 12months ??

Got to spend a lot of time and effort getting the CSO to understand the error and see that it gets rectified. It will affect my bonus interest for Jan greatly if they dun rectify my account to the Feb promo.

I am signing up HSBC on 1 Feb for Feb, Mar and Apr (standby SO's HSBC for May, Jun, July). Stanchart has a daily transfer limit of $100k so i figure the easiest for me is to get a CO (no cheque book for esaver). But i am not very sure if i shld withdraw via CO on 31 Jan (last day for scb promo) or on 1 Feb (first day of HSBC promo)...

Based on squaredot's advice, it seems i shld do 1 Feb?

Are you a new HSBC Premier or existing ?

if new, need to take note that new HSBC Premier account takes 4-5 working days to open. What i did was go to Branch open 1 week before month end, then request that the account be active on 1st of new month, & then I deposit money into new account on 1st.

Existing hsbc but zero-rised in Nov 16. O should be able yo register inline on 1 Feb and bank in the CO on 1 Feb. Thank u for your help. Appreciated.

hmm.... SC really so terrible... luckily i don't trust them and always put short term...

actually to be fair to scb, that annual esaver promotion was rather new for them and its was obvious many staff were not familiar with the t&c.

for years, i have benefited from their esaver promos without any problems.

hope they continue with the annual promo :s13:

For e$aver account, if I go to the counter to do a withdrawal by requesting for a cheque in my own name, do I have to pay $5?

A manager called me. Interest shortfall settled. No explanation or apology for error. No confirmation my bonus account will be correct next month. Just tell me to call them if there is any shortfall. WTH. Customers have to spot their error and highlight and calculate for them.

That's why we have inequality in bargaining power. When customer make mistake and didn't pay credit card bill, he gets hit with interest charges and late fees. When bank makes mistake, they can just keep quiet until the customer spots, then take their time to rectify the mistake and dont have to pay late interest or late fees.

A manager called me. Interest shortfall settled. No explanation or apology for error. No confirmation my bonus account will be correct next month. Just tell me to call them if there is any shortfall. WTH. Customers have to spot their error and highlight and calculate for them.

Need to deposit cashier order to the other bank for the funds to be transferred before can get cash

I think you should report this to MAS. To be, it's not so much about the interest, it demonstrates how flawed their backend is and to be frank, it is very alarming... How many other customers are like you who check the interest diligently?

this happens everywhere what.. not just for banks.. like that time singtel internet down for more than 24 hours also just a cheap % discount for next month's fee nia

SMRT if break down while you still on the train also wont even refund u the original train fare u paid for half the journey.. only give u free bus to take with long queues

Says who that you cant get a refund in the event of a train breakdown? They wont refund you immediately. You have to request for a refund yourself.
