Hi guys, I remember tested on the day when I just installed the 10gbps, it was average around 7gbps, but recently I off the ONT to re arrange my equipments, I now consistently only able to get 4gbps. I called StarHub and they say nothing wrong with the back end. Anyone know how to resolve this?

Just wait for back end equipment upgrade and then the network congestion will be over. Now whole singapore network congestion.

I am getting only 4Gbps during peak hours but i think it is ok as all ISP will be upgrading soon and there is no website that can support 10 Gbps single file download.

That is certainly not true. Only SH/MR have congestion problems as of now.

Singtel --> no issues
VQ --> no issues.

SIMBA --> to be confirmed.

Nothing user can do la since it is backend issue. I am waiting for SH to get back and their backend will be upgrading soon. I think very soon the issue will be resolved.

Yes, I also hope so.

But please do not anyhow say "Now whole singapore network congestion." It is only SH/MR now. VQ got no issues. Singtel got no issues.

Even the reports from SIMBA 10Gbps users are pretty positive in terms of speed.

Hence my reluctance to go either MR or SH despite them using ONT. Hopefully by the time my m1 1 gbps plan is up for renewal they’d have gotten their sh*t together. Otherwise i’d legit rather take my chance with double NAT & go with Singtel despite the ONR & set my router as router mode.

Unless of course M1 finally offers 10 gbps too & remains ONT, then its another option. But being the new kid on the block as far as 10 gbps goes, guess the problem is one wouldn’t know if m1 10 gbps also has speed and congestion issues like MR and SH. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I am pretty sure M1 will have no issues when they launch 10Gbps plans.

M1 issues are usually not related to the network (solid network) but rather lousy website and lousy M1 app.

what is ISP peering and upstream IP?
peering creates mutually beneficial traffic exchange relationships between two independent autonomous systems (ASs). It is especially useful at service provider exchange points.
Basically exchanging internet traffic without the involvement of an upstream internet service provider. This usually happens through internet exchanges, or if the amount of traffic warrants it, via a direct interconnect.

The ISPs (tier 2/3) we subscribe to actually purchase internet connection (IP transit) from another ISP, which are commonly called tier 1 ISPs.

Traffic that cannot be handled via peering will go through the ISP's upstream transit provider(s)

Is it possible to subscribe to a tier 1 ISP?

Just switched over to SH 10G. Test done at ~2pm Is this a joke? :LOL:

PS> Mine is a 2.5G network but it's still far below 2.5G speeds. I am actually reconsidering my plan to get some 10G equipment.

Erm, if you're asking, you don't have the chops to make it work, nor would you be ok with the cost of the IP transit. :s22: :s13:

they are primarily B2B, although if you have your own ASN plus IP space, you can probably buy IP transit from any one of the 15 tier 1 ISPs that have presence in the datacentre you're at.

No worry, IMDA and SH are aware of the situation. With the grant from Govt, SH will sure upgrade its backend equipment to support 10 Gbps services. Now too many users. I hope M1 quickly launch 10 Gbps services soon then some jump over so not too many with SH. ST TV services is good and more option for users.
