Starhub charges extra for LTE

I received SMS from Starhub that they will charge 4G Speed boast as VAS for $10.

I remember when they introduce LTE, they reduce the data allowance from 12GB cited LTE as the reason. Now they are 4G as VAS and I am very sure that they will not change the 3G data package back to 12GB.

I am not sure if the other 2 will also do the same which I will not be surprised if they do.

It seems we as consumer has no choice. I feel this is a very cunning way of the telco.

I do not mind to pay extra 10.70/month, but can the telco guarantee the speed? What happen if they fail to deliver, any penalty?

All will follow suit lah, matter of time only. Just look at the reduction of data from 12 GB.

If the telco wants to attract more customer they could try to sweeten it a bit by either offering more data or faster 4G. Problem is all 3 are more or less government owned in one way of the other. So ultimately its a left pocket right pocket scenario thus they don't really care.

You not happy with A you go to B or C. End of the day, it ends up in the government's pocket anyways.

Its like auxiliary police. Govt said want to privatise CISCO so got more competition in the industry. But CISCO, AETOS and SATS are all owned by govt linked entities anyway so regardless of whom you choose, ah kong still gets the money. So why would they give a ****?

Of course no lah, look at mrt, they tell you price increase and service is not related one. I started to feel that 3G speeds of starhub are getting slower, probably they trying to push push people towards 4G since more and more are not going to pay for 4G or renew their 3g, 12G plans
