just documenting my experience from my recent trip to Tokyo and Taipei and giga really left me to die overseas even when I dropped several messages to and email them, end up I need to use klook eSim to have data roaming

Day 1 in Tokyo, data roaming was fine until 9pm when speed reduced until opening websites, google maps and YouTube are not usable, only can whatsapp

Day 2, speed resumed in the morning but suddenly at 11am, speed reduced again

Day 3 and 4, speed was fine

Day 5 to 9, no longer able to choose NTT Docomo as roaming partner so effectively I did not have data roaming for 4 days

Day 10 in Taipei, data roaming was fine until 10pm then not usable again

I dropped giga 3 messages from giga app but there was no reply, it was until the 7th day I dropped giga an email which they finally replied but the "help" given was useless

I am not able to choose DTT Docomo and the instructions was to reboot the phone and try again

I have been to Japan 3 times with giga data roaming and never had any issues, but the most disappointing part is the useless "help" support gave me

will be porting out next month but want to hear if anyone has similar experience as me

That’s basically the catch of all MVNO’s. Cut out physical stores and reduce staffing/support costs. Replace 5 CSOs with 1 part timer and an AI bot.
