Don't cancel your line with your original Telco. Giga will cancel it for you.

Make sure you're not on any existing contract.

Make sure the number is registered under your name.

My line is SIM-only, so not on contract. The line's registered under my father.

Is it necessary to change the ownership to sign up for Giga? I can get my father to sign the necessary papers.

Yeah if the line isn’t in your name you can only transfer if the giga! Account is also registered in your father’s name.

I believe there is a fee to transfer ownership, so if you would like to avoid it you may want to consider doing an “intermediate” switch to another provider like MyRepublic first prior to transferring to giga.

I would like to avoid the hassle of changing ownership.

Can I just sign up via the website, key in my father's details and just proceed? Is there anything that my father needs to do, like signing forms and stuff? I can also put in new payment options from my credit card though.

You will need to sign up using your father's NRIC, email, and credit card.

You can use your own credit/debit card. I did that before when my line was still in my wife's name.

Planning to move my father's line out from singtel after contract end in Oct.

Still thinking whether to change ownership of his line to my name or continue to put under his name. I had a lot of problem with Singtel because they refuse to answer queries when I call on his behalf.

Yes, If you wish to transfer the line from your father’a name to yours, you can do so for free via MR or Circles at no fees. Other MVNOs other than the two mentioned won’t be able to support Transfer of Ownership.

The big three MNOs charge a Transfer of Ownership fee, and some requiring you to fulfill one billing cycle before porting out.

If you want to continue to hold the line on your father’s name, then it won’t really matter.

I believe you have one month from when you receive the sim to activate it before they recycle the number. Once activate that's the billing date.

And only activated it yesterday.

Saw the next renewal date as 13th August

Thank you. I ported in an existing number for my dad and he’s taking his own sweet time to activate the sim. I just warned to quickly activate it before giga decides to “delist” his number...

Hey guys, just wondering. Is the 100min call time inclusive of whatsapp outgoing call?

I see that I have used 35min of call time this month, but I make most of my calls using whatsapp.
