Hi,

Will be going to Japan in September, and was looking at the options for data. Anybody tried out Starhub Happy Roam for data? I've only used it in Malaysia.

They say it works with NTT DoCoMo and KDDI.

I've used the ¥3,218 NTT DoCoMo data sim before and had good coverage, but was wondering if the KDDI coverage is good.

Well, for me it worked well in Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo & Nagoya.

No complains.

I guess I'll use it since I have the SIM card. At worst I can just buy a data SIM later

I used to use the Japanese providers data Sim but after using happyroam, I'm a convert! So happy to use data and pay lesser. I had no problems using it during my Japan trip in June. Reception all ok.

i tried starhub happyroam (connected to T-Mobile) over at California.
it was very bad... always losing data connection. which was very vital to me because i was using google maps to route.
therefore, i recommend M1 datapassport roaming if you are a current subscriber

never tried in japan yet.
usually i will just purchase a data sim from yodobashi for around 2000yen
