1. No idea with other ISP. Starhub all the way for years.
2. as other posts shown already
3. hmm.. depending on your usage pattern, the dlink router might/might not be sucky.

I don't think any of the ISPs provide a cutting-edge router at this time. You're best off requesting Direct ONT, taking the 3000 rewards points in lieu, using them to set off your bill, and plugging in a kick-ass router of your choice.

just to add-on,

if you are going for Direct-ONT, VoIP will have to be dependable on a separate unit.

means instead of having ONT + Router (2 devices),
you will end up with ONT + Router + VoIP Device (3 devices).

Sorry, that's right, of course....since I don't use digital voice, I tend to forget about it.... ;-)

To me I think is not so good. My friends with other ISP are getting better speeds.especially with gaming. However not very zun bcos though we all use Direct ONT our routers are different.
The Dlink is OK but since is free no complain. Maybe my TP Link router is not so good? Didn't have lots of different after direct ONT.
My take is go elsewhere or get the cheapest. at least u win from price point?

In general, you get what you pay for. VQ is the most expensive, and from what I've read they seem to be kicking butt. Haven't seen much love in the M1 forum...

Was left with no internet for almost 1 day when installing. All good now.
200Mbps for a few days already, been connecting LAN cable (3m) to my laptop as the router is just nearby, and I mostly use laptop on my desk, and no need wireless.

Router: provided Dlink router.
Connection: TP -> fibre -> ONT -> LAN -> Router -> LAN -> Laptop

Starhub Speed Test
Wired: Symmetric 200Mbps
Wireless: Symmetric 10-40Mbps (very bad)

Speedtest.net on Telin server
Wired: Down 200Mbps, Up 140Mbps
Wireless: Symmetric 10-40Mbps (also very bad)

For wireless, I would say get a better router. But for wired, it's good.

The lousy wireless speeds are caused by the D-Link router's wireless chip and its lack of 5Ghz support.

Wired on the other hand is pretty much dependent on the 10/100/1000 base-t standard and the cat 5/5e/6/7 cable used
