You should see it mentioned on SH website the different international speed that you're getting according to different plan, e.g., 100Mbps is limited to only 15Mbps, lower than maxonline premium.

ya now I know... but too late... :D

It will depend on local speed if you're downloading from the file share hosting servers which reside locally in SG. Now, the question is, how much chance do you have of having those file host to have servers in SG?

You can open the wall socket and check the label on the cable (if there is one). Anyway, it doesn't really matter whether it's cat5 or cat5e. Your international speed is only either 15Mbps or 25Mbps. ;)

wah. gg. i had MOL premium, which had higher intl speed. so now it's like i'm downgrading alr. and i use my internet mostly to download stuff using hosting sites. lol.

normally i can hit 1.5-1.8 MB/s currently. so i guess when i switch to maxinifity it'll be lesser than that? sigh kenna cheated by the SH guy. is it possible to cancel e order?

I used to be able to hit 2MBps when I was using maxonline premium. If you used to be able to hit 1.5-1.8MBps with MOL premium, you should be able to achieve around the same speed with your maxinfinity 100Mbps.

Can't really say that the sales guy cheated you, but more like he/she outsmarted you ;)

haha actually weirdly enough he tried to make me reconsider going for maxinfinity. said that my current MOL preimium offers me higher bandwith so I should stick to it. even gave me a day to think abt it first haha. but yeah on hindsight i should have just terminated my contract and go for MR/VQ. If i'm not wrong MR/VQ has no cap on int'l speed right?

You can try to ask whether you're still able to cancel, since you just signed up.

Yes, MR and VQ do not limit your international speed. I'm not sure about MR, but I'm on VQ and almost always able to achieve my max speed of 100Mbps. Just as a simple comparison, 10GB data can be downloaded in less than 30mins, around 20mins, on wired connection of course.

maybe starhub may consider removing the international limit, now starhub is the only isp with international speed limit

holy mother. okay. so normally you get download speeds of up to 12 MB/s (if my conversion is right)?

Yep, stable around 10-12MBps. Actually, when the sales person advised you to take one day to consider, you should have taken it. He/she already gave you the signal =:p

batboyz,

just wanted to say thanks for opening my eyes. I have managed to talk to the same SH sales consultant who told me that my netload downloading would depend on my download speed and not my international speed.

I told him that it wasn't true and that I would like to subscribe to another service which does not have any int'l speed cap. He was quite understanding, talked to his manager and cancelled my appointment FOC.

I must say, regardless, kudos to SH, even though you all might think their customer service sucks. Been their customer for almost 8 years without a problem and I must say I have never experienced any problems with them and they are pretty reasonable.

red_december,

Wow, that's a good news for you. It's quite reasonable that SH was able to cancel everything without any charges considering there has no action done from their side yet, except for paper works. Having said that, it's good to know that they're still willing to provide that kind of service. I was also SH's customer for 4+ years. Not much issues and downtime, but when there was real issue, there was nothing you can do anyway. :s12:

haha by right i dont think there'll actually be any charges if it was a recontract for maxonline. but cos for fibre they need to liase with opennet to set a date to go down and install, i can imagine why u need to pay $165 for cancelling an appointment.

haha that one i dunno i have never been on SH mobile. always been a red customer and their 3g is...alright la. i mean i am used to it being super slow already but its almost always responsive at least.

as for their broadband i have never faced any lags except for a time when i had my cousins over and cos of them there were about 15 devices connected wirelessly at the same time. lol
