If you did not subscribed to Digital Voice (DV) or have it provision on the CABLE modem (CM) instead of the Dlink RG, then it possible to configure manual VLAN on N66U to connect directly to ONT for internet access. ie:

ONT-> N66U -> PC

CM-> DV (phone)

ngbc,

How about my case?...lolx =:p

gents, you guys are really top notch. The "tan-jia" at Asus service direct me round and round and round.. i.e. update firm ware, reboot the router, end of the days just say their technical will check to see if compatible and revert to me by 2 working days.

Ngbc> can you advise me how to go around doing so? I didn't opt for the DV services.

Silverrider> if I connect ONT -> 5402SP ->N66 , still can fully utilize the full potential of the N66? wouldn't it be like piggyriding on the 5402SP?

Thanks all in advance !

1. Configure VLAN on n66u like this:

DJQFE.png

2. Power OFF both ONT & n66u & connect WAN port of n66u to LAN port #1 of ONT.

3. Power ON ONT first. then power ON n66u about a minute later.

4. Coonect PC to either LAN/WiFI of n66u to surf.

* please login router homepage http://192.168.1.1 to conifgure, don't use CD!

Please feedback.

Latest update of my case:

5 Starhub personnel came down to my residence to do the "joint inspection". 2 hub troopers and 3 network guys.

They opened up my Dlink RG and after connecting their netbook to some internal connector inside the RG, started a packet sniffer(Wireshark i think) to log my internet traffic and capture the issue's technical details.

They stayed ard half an hour to try waiting and see if the issue occurred again. It didnt(the issue happens almost entirely at night), so they left the wireshark equipment at my place and left. They asked me to note the next time it happen again and tell them the exact time so they can access Wireshark remotely and see the details.

I reminded them yet again about my deadline on 18th April, and they understood fully.

PS: I know about packet sniffers, so I'll probably NOT be accessing any secure stuff today :s22:

this is what happens after they go

The speed of them to rectify an issue is really disappointing but

Still, I think i really have to appauld Starhub for their efforts on trying their utmost best to find out the cause.

u leave IPTV and VOIP blank means ports 3 and 4 as good as useless liao. At the very least, configuring it this way lets you use ports 3 and 4 for internet/lan.

Hey,
FYI, Dlink RG wireless do drop intermittently very often. I had already disabled the wireless, and use other wireless home plug to login to the internet.

My digital voice is together under this RG... i'm thinking of exchanging this RG, but its been 4 months already... any idea if its possible?

RG warranty is 1 year. Starhub will change the RG if your issue is deemed acceptable for an RMA
