will cat5 and cat5e different alot :s11:
I would like to add different cables made by different manufacturers vary alittle. 5 is a far cry from 5e and 6. But 5e and 6 less noticeable or not all all cos at the moment we don't have Internet so fast to maximize cat6 cable speeds.

Also old cables should be replaced....oxidation etc.

All adds up to some resistance.

Guys, right now I managed to link my singtel 2wire modem to act as a wifi router for my starhub d'link modem.

The 2wire wifi signal is definitely better than both starhub new d'link and singtel PACE wifi/modem.

The ping is much lower.

I am wondering if I opt for direct ONT, would I be able to use only my 2wire, omitting the d'link modem? Would the DV work as well?

Thanks.

Hi all,
to connect the ONT to my current Asus N66RT. I have to called #1633 only and ask them switch it? Will it be advisable for me to get the open net technician to do it for me when they are installing.

2) modem lan to router lan

Bought a Synology NAS yesterday, connected to the default Starhub DLink gateway. How do i set it as my media server? My LG Smart TV (wired connection to router) does not seem to detect the NAS.

Is there a setting in the Dlink gateway that i need to trigger?

Currently on 150Mbps and using their Dlink gateway.
Previously was using cable at 50Mbps with Dlink DIR-655.

When I play BF3 now it lags so much more than when I'm on the slower cable.

Is it seriously the router? Both hard wired. Now upgraded to CAT6. Previouly CAT 5e.

Solved.

Just to share, i just installed an media server app on the Synology NAS. And the LG telly automatically detected the NAS. Nice.
Nothing to do with the router. But rather the status of the NAS.
