wireless channel should be left on auto unless you know which channels are congested in your surroundings by using wifi scanner apps.

I beg to differ. You should not set it as auto to yield best results.

This of course, 1 hv to make an effort to perform a scan around its surroundings to determine the best channel.

How to do a router settings?

Go to your router gateway page.

Usually 192.168.1.1/254 or 192.168.0.1/254

Check your gateway ip for the router ip.

Once you know how to setup 1 router, setting a different router will be similar.

Anyway, configuring Asus router is fairly straightforward
