1. Your original setup:
Singtel ONR in Liviring Room -> Asus GT-AX6000 (as main AP) in Living Room TV Console Area
Singtel ONR in Living Room --> Ethernert cable --> D-Link Switch in Study room --> two PCs in study room

2. I think you use the following configuration

Starhub XGS-PON ONT --> TP-Link EB810v (10G WAN port) as main router in Living Room TV Console Area
EB810V 2.5G LAN port --> Ethernet cable --> Asus GT-AX6000 in AP mode (2.5G WAN port, up to 2.5Gbps)
Asus GT-AX6000 2.5G LAN port --> first PC (up to 2.5Gbps)
Asus FT-AX6000 1G LAN port --> second PC (up to 1Gbps)

The two PCs will share 2.5G bandwdith, due to the limitations of GT-AX6000 2.5G WAN port. First PC will be up to 2.5Gbps, second PC will be up to 1Gbps, two PC combined will be up to 2.5Gbps.

3. If you want both the PCs to get full 2.5G switch, then you have to get a 10G/2.5G switch.

Starhub XGS-PON ONT --> TP-Link EB810v (10G WAN port) as main router in Living Room TV Console Area
EB810V 10G LAN port --> Ethernet cable --> 2.5G/10G switch in Study room (first 10G port)
Switch 10G port 2 --> future wired device
Switch 2.5G port 1 --> Asus GT-AX6000 in AP mode (2.5G WAN port, up to 2.5Gbps)
Switch 2.5G port 2 --> first PC (up to 2.5Gbps)
Switch 2.5G port 3 -> second PC (up to 2.5Gbps)

The two PCs will be able to have its own dedicated 2.5Gbps bandwidth in this case (total 5Gbps)

One option for the switch: Hasivo S600W-4GT-2XGT-SE, RMB 499 listed, quad 2.5G ports, two 10G RJ45 ports, at about RMB 499 plus shipment and GST from Taobao.
Hi, thanks you guys.
I have placed order for that switch now. Will go and measure properly the length for the lan cable management.

Regarding setting up GT-AX6000 in AP mode, will there be another set of SSID for wifi, therefore making total 4 (2 from GT-AX6000 and 2 from EB810v)? In Asus app, this is already in AP mode with 2 SSID wifi and on the Singtel ONR, there is none.

Yes, two SSIDs for GT-AX6000, at least two SSIDs for EB810v.

I will recommend 3 or 4 SSIDs for EB810v, 2.4GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz and MLO (optional).

If you don't like this, sell the GT-AX6000 and get the HB710 at S$192 as mesh node.

Signing up for the $30 5gb plan. How can I port my Singtel land line over? I am almost completing the signup process but there is no mention of land line...
Update on my journey from Singtel legacy 1Gbps ONT BB to Starhub 5Gbps ONT with digital voice number port over for those
who thinking of taking similar route.

As advised by bros here, i only called to cancel the Singtel BB after SH BB was working after installation on 15th Jan, making sure to stress to Singtel that i wanted Singtel digital voice to remain. Received email from Singtel that BB will be disconnected on 22nd Jan and digital voice will no longer be free and chargeable at 10 bucks.
Received email from Singtel on 27th Jan that Digital voice will be terminated on 31st Jan. At 9.30am on 31st Jan, i tried to dial in and out and it was no longer working. So i switch the cable from Singtel tel line 1 to Starhub tel line 1.
the old number not in action yet while the new number from Starhub could work.
tried again at 6pm, this time both numbers cannot work. I tried again before i slept around midnight still same results.
At 9am on 1st Feb, the old number to port in can finally work while the starhub new number is gone.

Does the HB710 work with Deco BE85 if I wanted to buy 2 more as mesh nodes?

No. TP-Link EB810v and HB710 support TP-Link EasyMesh and not compatible with Deco Mesh.

Option 1 -- just use Deco BE85 two-pack and it may well be okay with your flat. You may want to post the floor plan with details of the FTP and LAN ports location in the rooms (if any).

Option 2 -- get one more EB810v as main router (S$360) and HB710 (S$192) from Starhub. This should be cheaper than Deco BE85 two-pack.

From Starhub Broadband Router FAQ:
https://www.starhub.com/personal/support/article.html?id=LfNB5odcBt0mTG6Pr7GSB7

How does the TP-Link HB710 mesh work?
The TP-Link HB710 uses Easymesh* technology and is compatible with another TP-Link HB710. For the best performance and compatibility, we recommend meshing with another HB710 or EB810v.

* Mesh nodes that are available from other brands would not be compatible with the TP-Link HB710. We strongly recommend using another TP-Link HB710 or EB810v for best performance.

I need more coverage on my home network with the TP-Link HB710, what can I do?
You can extend the coverage by purchasing another TP-Link HB710 or EB810v from StarHub. Additional units can be purchased at $8 per month for HB710, $15 per month for EB810v (for 24 months) during initial sign-up or cash & carry from our retail store and Hub Troopers at $192 or $360 respectively.

Thank you! I'm currently signed up with Singtel so my ONR is at the utility box and my 2 mesh are at living room and study room. The signal at master bedroom is terrible.

I am thinking of signing up with Starhub 5gbps and have the main router at the living room with 1 mesh at study room and 1 at master bedroom. Unfortunately, only living room TV box have the ethernet cable so the study room and master bedroom have to use mesh with wireless backhaul.

Speedtest for current Singtel 2Gbps for my study room PC with LAN connected to the mesh is 300+mbps download and 250+mbps upload.

As mentioned, please post the floor plan with details of the placement location of the current Singtel ONR and the two mesh nodes. Please also indicate the proposed location of the three nodes if you sign up with Starhub.

What are the mesh nodes you are using? Singtel mesh solutions from Arcadyan/Askey/Airties are very lousy mesh solutions, especially when using wireless backhaul. You may not need three nodes in reality. Good thing for Starhub is that you can buy more EB810v/HB710 units after the installation.

I have attached the floor plan of my 5-rm HDB. The red circle is where the ONR is at with the utility box. The green circles are my Singtel mesh WIFI 6 extender model AP5690W-D171.RoHS, one beside the TV in the living room and one inside my bedroom used as an office.

1) I will suggest that you test with the free HB710 in the living room and then see how it goes. Then buy one more HB710 (S$192) and play with the placement location to see whether it is good enough or not.

Potential position of the second HB710:
Bedroom 3 (left side close to the door may be better)
Bedroom 2 (right side close to the door may be better)
Master bedroom (close to the door area)
2) Another potential better one is to get EB810v (S$360) and use it as the main router in the living room, since it has better wireless coverage than HB710. Then you can use the existing HB710 as mesh node. You need to carry out the same experiment as above to see how to place the HB710 mesh node to have better wireless coverage.

3) Some people in this forum are very creative and find ways to hang the router in the wall to have better coverage. Hopefully others will chime in and offer their suggestions as well.

I had advice from a bro who is well versed in this and did a cabling to allow my main router to be in my dining area

I think may need two routers as the condo unit is very big. You can try with one router first.

Hi,

Can I use HB710 as the main router and create an easymesh with BE230? I'm not a gamer and just want to ensure that there full coverage in my flat. Im looking at BE230 as a secondary router as it's also from tplink and it's Wifi 7. It's also cheap as there are many m1 subscribers dumping it in carousell. Thanks!

Yes, you can.
Ethernet bavkhaul is recommended in this case.

I WhatsApp Selina for signing up to the 5gbps ONT recently, hassle free and settled within 1 or 2 days.
Waiting for my installation now.

My 1gbps plan has expired years ago and came upon this thread with all these discussions, so decided to sign up. Currently paying ~$40 so why not with $29.55, although i will still be using my old EA8100 router.

But I saw the post with SH offering free HB710 router with the ONT plan, I will be asking Selina if my plan has/can include since its out on SH page. :ROFLMAO:
I was same situation as you, my contract also expired almost 1 year.

Called 1630 just now but couldn't get the $29.55 offer; the CSO offered me $37 instead for 5Gbps (ONT+ free HB710), I had accepted it as it is lesser than what I paying now.

Didn't know we can whatsapp Selina for that $29.55 deal...

Try again with Selina. They can/might update you with the lower priced offer. Since haven’t install

You should read this before you sign. This is a very good forum as there are a few expert here.
