Oh... sign ntuc member, subscribe to the plan, the quit the membership. Haha.
actually ntuc membership is super worth it....
go those courses that can claim UTAP... can claim up to $500 every year (for those above 40 years old)... more than claim back the yearly membership of $100+

Starhub got cis promo for hometeam members also .hometeam membership is soo much cheaper than ntuc membership.
Such saying that hometeam is cheaper is correct but also not 100% correct because now not enough manpower so employer help their staff to pay for Starhub internet so it look like SH offer them cheaper. Do you enjoy working with uniform group like SPF and do you like to rush here rush there when there is an emergency? You like to do IPPT? Do you enjoy working actively on weekend. Do you enjoy being armed when you are on duty and carrying so much equipments while working actively? Or will you prefer to work in an office and enjoy good life and every meal eat at aircon places, cafe and restaurant without people looking at you? When your job do not need you to be in uniform, you can relax and eat your lunch nicely and no one know who you are. Uniform group is very stressful. Even Cisco officers are very stressful. See AI search below.

AI Overview

You are correct; being an officer for Certis Cisco is frequently described as a very stressful and demanding job.
Employee reviews cite issues with long hours, poor management, and a difficult and repetitive workload. This sentiment is common across several officer positions within the company, including Auxiliary Police Officers, Aviation Security Officers, and Enforcement Officers.

Key stressors for Certis Cisco officers
  • Long working hours: Many officers report 12-hour shifts or longer, often with mandatory overtime, which significantly reduces personal and family time.
  • Poor work-life balance: The grueling hours and shift work schedules make it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance, especially for officers with families.
  • Understaffing and heavy workload: Understaffing is a frequent complaint, leading to an excessive workload for the officers who are on duty. In airport environments, the work can be non-stop due to high traffic.
  • Difficult management: Numerous reviews mention that management lacks understanding of the ground staff's daily issues. Other reported problems include poor scheduling, a lack of communication, and a toxic, unfair culture.
  • Dealing with the public: Enforcement officers, in particular, face stressful encounters with the public, which can include facing verbal abuse.
  • Slow career progression: Advancement can be very slow for auxiliary and security officers. Many also report a lack of job satisfaction and limited opportunities for growth.
  • Low pay for the demands: While some acknowledge the pay is decent for entry-level workers, many feel the compensation is not sufficient given the long and tiring hours.

Okie, SH got back to me. 10Gbps plan with free HB710 for S$30.49. I took the offer!
Wow, that very good deal. Sadly I never see any inbox prompt on SH app for this promotion, maybe already using 5Gbps at $29.55 that why not the target group. LOL use 94 cents more to get double the speed.

Not sure if can call in to SH and ask for this upgraded promo or not, just few cents more. 😂

Alternately is be patient since it’s already 1 year on $29.55 5Gbps plan, another year then is up for recontract, next target will be 10Gbps plan and hope to get special price.

Hey @xiaofan and everyone! Three questions as I upgrade to 5/10Gbps.
  1. Will a TP-Link EB810v match/exceed the Wi-Fi coverage provided by a Linksys Velop MX4200?
  2. How big is the difference in Wi-Fi coverage between a EB810v and a HB710?
  3. Has there been any firmware/security/software update for the EB810v excluding betas? I've read on the lack of security updates and software features, i.e. WireGuard Client/Server support.
Thank you and have a good night.

1) Should be yes, EB810v should have better coverage than Linksys Velop MX4200.

But Linksys Velop MX4200 may have better roaming performance than TP-Link EasyMesh (EB810v and HB710 support TP-Link EasyMesh) if you want to form a mesh.

Review of TP-Link EasyMesh

2) Quite big difference. HB710 has so-so coverage based on my testing. I do not have EB810v but I have Archer BE805 which has much better coverage than HB710. EB810v is supposed to have similar coverage to EB810v.

3) I do not think you will get any chance to get Wireguard VPN Client Server support for EB810v or HB710 any time soon.

As for FW updates, the users here are still waiting for official FW release.

From your post, I do not think EB810v/HB710 are suitable for you. You may want to consider Archer BE805 if you want to have a single router, or Deco BE85 if you want a mesh. Or you can consider offerings from Asus.

Thank you. Yes, the place and placement allow me to run a single router. I'll keep an eye out for both the BE805 and EB810v. The latter, with its lean set of features, is actually idiot-proof. But the lack of security updates is inexcusable. Is this the same for your HB710?

Thanks again and good night.

1. My HB710 is pretty stable. But it also has one year plus old firmware. The version is mentioned by Aginet app as following.
0.2.0 3.0.0 v60be.0, 240827, Rel44957n

2. Take note lack of firmware updates does not equal to lack of security updates. They may not encounter any security issues with the old firmware.

TP-Link promises to provide security updates for both EB810v and HB710 for quite some time and likely will extend the support further.

For example, they will support Deco M4 until 28 Feb 2028, it is a pretty old product, probably released in 2018. I bought four units of Deco M4 around 2019/2020.

https://www.tp-link.com/sg/support/faq/3182/

1) EB810v
Duration of Security Support

TP-Link will provide security update support to the following products up to 31 Jan 2028, and extended support may be provided after the stated date.

EB810v

2) HB710 and HB410
Duration of Security Support

TP-Link will provide security update support to the following products up to 31 Oct 2027, and extended support may be provided after the stated date.

HB410(SGSH)
HB710(SGSH)

3) EB810v is also certified to the highest Level 4 for the Singapore Cyber Security Label program.
