Sorry if this is noobish.
Currently using flint 2 MT6000 as wireless router.
Just purchased a n355 mini pc with 2 x sfp+ ports and 2 x 2.5gb lan ports (https://e.tb.cn/h.6KNEqPSkAvfAuLb).
How do i set up the mini pc (didn't add on wireless module, antenna) as the main openwrt router, since it is more powerful, to put before the flint 2, which I thought to use as AP instead. And since the mini pc has sfp+ port, can it be configured under openwrt to function as the fibre modem so thought I can use 1 less device. Currently on M1 plan.
My desktop has no lan connection to flint 2. Basically, my place is using wireless only as I didn't build in lan points during renovation. Will I have problem reaching the mini pc to configure it. Any advice on the steps and resources that I can refer to.
Thanks very much in advance.

If you are not so OpenWRT savvy, it might not be so str forward for your use case. Can check out the OpenWRT or similar (snb) forum on installation of OpenWRT on x86-64 hardware. There are also some YouTuber that is sharing tutorials on such installation.

Just a suggestion. As a starter, you might want to familiarize yourself configuring OpenWRT (over Luci) on a single router like Flint2, before diving further into setting up OpenWRT as main router on the mini-pc + Flint2 as AP.

Thanks sifu for the advice. I was thinking to test out with the x86 so that I don't have to touch the flint 2 too much. If it doesn't work out well, I can remove the mini pc and revert to only the flint 2, since it's just ap vs router toggling. I can't seem to find articles on whether the mini pc can replace the modem and how to setup. Would appreciate it if you can point me to relevent resources.

@hwzlite

This will be my "ultimate" :ROFLMAO: travel homelab setup for the upcoming Airbnb hopping during my year-end family vacation.

叠罗汉 Network 三兄弟:
  1. Router+AP (GL.iNet Slate 7), running GL.iNet version of OpenWRT with AdGuard Home, VPN client like WireGuard and Tailscale
  2. Smart managed switch (TP-link TL-SG105E),
  3. Micro NAS (Morefine N5105 microPC with 1TB SATA SSD), with TrueNAS installed and mainly running PLEX and Jellyfin with HW transcoding using Intel QuickSync, SMB share for backing up family vacation photos and videos, which will also be synced back to the servers running at home in Singapore
All could be powered over USB and even a power bank. Sufficient networking gear to keep myself occupied, and some just-in-case cum last-minute remote management.:LOL:

(Thinking of 3D printing a mini-rack to house them and easily carry them on the go....)
