Anyone used the lockers at station before? I searched for the locker size and there are quite a few dimensions.

Are there any lockers for those Large luggage (not XL size) available at the station? How about the availability?

there are only 3 sizes. biggest one should be able to fit it. popular stations or stations where there's attraction nearby usually fully taken up by early noon.

First come first serve.

I had just dragged my suitcase last week from JR Hiroshima Station to Atomic Bomb museum then all the way to Miyajima Torii then back to JR Hiroshima Station.

Had a hard time looking for 1 at Tokyo Station last August.

Those medium sized luggage also uses the large size locker right? I see the dimensions given on a few sites, only their biggest locker size can fit a medium/ large luggage.

Will be a BIG headache if have to drag the luggage along :s22:

Look for info online on locker locations - there are some in the less obvious areas that are not fully occupied. JR even has apps where you can see the layout of major stations like Tokyo, Shinjuku, Etc.

No problem finding large size lockers for checkin suitcases but they are limited. If you are at Tokyo Stn they have a counter that accepts and holds your bags for you if you cannot find a suitable empty locker.

Another option is to sent your large suitcase ahead to next location using Takkyubin and only travel with small cabin bag then less worry about finding suitable size locker.

As a general guide, you can quite safely assume that only cabin luggage size bags will fit in medium size lockers, anything significantly bigger you will need a large locker.

Note that while busier stations like Tokyo have more lockers, they are also tons more people. My last trip it took me 25mins dragging my bag all over the station to find an empty large locker.

Note also that Tokyo gransta mall has a cloak room but I no use it before.

Ahh..cabin sized luggage is those able to hand carry into plane right? If like that, mine confirm bigger than cabin sized luggage. Have to look for big lockers. @_@

Shall look for apps for station map and locker availability.

I was lucky to be able to fit my 24 inch luggage into a middle size locker by putting it sideways instead of upright. I was about to cry when I could close the locker door just about nicely. I too dragged my luggage up and down the entire Shinjuku station to look for an large locker.

I used the locker at Kansai airport. They have 3 hourly for 300 Yen and 600 Yen for whole day for large locker. It's enough for a large 24-27" with space for my foldable baby stroller and another backpack.
