So if I have only a bachelor in maths, but a masters in maths got a typo of 1+1=3, I am NOT FIT to correct him? Only a PhD in maths has the right too? (Not even a masters in maths can do so coz he is not more qualified than him?)

hi everybody. i am 20 years old and weigh 68kg

flat barbell bench press: 90kg x6
back squat: 105kgx5
deadlift: 100kg x10 110kgx5

have not tried 1 RM for all yet :o

with an empty balcony, i thought, why not? Do you mean you are concerned that if you load like 200kgs on the bar, there is a lot of pressure on the tiles? Not to worry. If you mean, what if a person does rack pulls and has to sort of half-slam the bar on the safety pins, the tiles are still going to be ok because the safety pins would absorb the impact. And if you are worried about when a lifter is lifting 100+ on bench press and sort of slams back the weight back to the holds after the set, the tiles are also ok because the holds and the rack itself would absorb the impact too. In fact the rack itself would continue to be solid even after taking a beating of consistent slamming of the bar on its holds or safety pins.

However, I do not slam weights; if I fail a bench press, I slowly settle the bar down to the safety pins. If you are wondering, wouldn't the safety pins hinder me from touching my chest then? Well, I use an arch. So I set the safety pins such that they are lower than the height of my chest when I am arching, and above my chest when I am not arching.

The headache in the case of installing this, would be, the amount of money (mainly the weights) and measuring the dimensions carefully.

I alternate between gym and home though.

Thanks for the explanation. I bench, squat in a power rack in a gym. So I set up the restraining bars as a safety measure as well also just below my chest for flat bench because I go to an office gym and I don't trust anyone there to spot me because if they screw up I'd get hurt. In anycase I dont get that much of an arch as u do but I try to keep my feet behind my knees and pull my shoulder blades tight giving me a solid stable base but a bit of the tightness is gone because I dont get a handoff as well.

I was wondering more about the loading capacity of the flooring and tiles. I mean the racks gotta weigh around 100kgs add in about 300-400kgs of weight plus bodywight, furniture and all that stuff. Anyway its a moot post since my spare room is furnished and it looks like I wont be able to dump in a cage there.

Bear, I know about losing the tightness, that's annoying. That is because the lifter is usually already set himself up for the lift, but when he lifts off by himself without a spotter, the upper body tightness disappears. You could consider what I did to eliminate this issue, by pulling yourself into the bar like doing an incline pull up, then straight away arch down until head and upper back touch the bench, and immediately lift off without wasting any time in between. Just an idea though.

Well the rack is probably 80kgs, and is quite easy to push around to adjust its location slightly.

No worries about the weights, nothing will happen. I mean, unless you are rack pulling 800lbs and truly slamming the weights down on the safety bars, not much worry there.

Rage, I think it's bodysolid pro power rack, maybe like 1000 SGD ( at that time?) Bench I'm not sure but it was quite cheap considering how great the bench is.

cowed77, the grip has been working very well for me. I could however name many powerlifters with narrower grip and almost one foot taller than me. I could also name lifters with wider grips than me. I have used this grip for years. If a grip is working well and it is the lifter's natural grip ( and strongest grip according to the lifter), then go ahead. Other than the usual glaring form issues, other elements in a lifter's training is pretty much up to him to utilise.
