How is your stay?

Thanks, it was a good stay. The property was clean and upkept. There was excellent breakfast dim-sum at Kulai Yunlai Coffeeshop nearby. The location is also fairly accessible for Aeon Bandar Dato Onn and Paradigm Mall. Excellent for connections to Desaru too. Of course one has to drive.

I was at Setia Tropika over the long week-end. I did a rough poll and found that of 10 vehicles in the porches, easily 4 have Singaporean plates.

this area is getting popular, lots of amenities, public/private hospital

easily accessible to town, highway.
mostly are chinese

i used to go there play badminton on every weekend, then supper

i'm a living example..
i have change almost 3 passports..
90% of them, are with malaysia..

i happen to go malaysia almost every week..
until everyone thought i am a malaysian aka JH kia

never in the 13 years, i was questioned before..

in case you didn't know, singaporean can also drive malaysian cars to singapore.
of course, you need to apply every 6 months, with LTA
with valid reasons like business, staying in malaysia rather than SG.
its possible and doable.

Think most people will be asking, after staying 29 days in JB, can a Singaporean come back to Singapore, bum around a bit, maybe run some errands, then go back to JB to reset another 30 days of his social visit pass? Basically a visa run. Any issue with that?

Reason I ask this is because Singapore ICA takes note of these things. So, what about Malaysia?

Agree with you. Setia Tropika still has room to grow. Another taman I recommend is Austin Heights. Both are well-developed and maintained.

to my understanding, it's not an issue.

why i reckon so,
tons of drivers go into JB weekly for petrol rush, etc
but none ever mentioned they have any issue, or denial of entry.

the thing about malaysia, is money talks..

if you know someone, you can even apply for a long term visa in malaysia..

i hope this clarify.

austin heights is a paradise..

but the traffic is crazy.. very congested..
and crime rate relatively higher..

myself witness a crime hence.. do practice precaution..

in terms of cost, setia seems to be lower/cheaper than austin..

why can't i enter malaysia as a tourist?

i actually keep my old passport, its mainly filled with malaysia stamps..

think simple, those singaporeans who purchased property in JB area, they commute daily in and out.
i bet their records is better than mine.

in the past, there's MACS..
now, the MACS sucks big time..

It is a social visit pass. Some elderly folk I know visit Malaysia every other week for the past decade. There is no issue at all. I know people who visit Malaysia to stay for weeks on end. Also no issue. Vice-versa for Malaysians who visit.

remember, 1 man's meat, might be poison to another

unknowingly, i have become a hybrid..
i hardly eat SG food as i find the food is too dull, plain to my liking..
but the moment, i step into malaysia, i switch to glutton mode.



since you talk about retirement planning,
maybe can put some fixed D in their banks, interest pretty high.
of course, there's forex risk..

maybe 1 day, our SGD can hit $1 is to RM4?

If they still don't improve on their gov and lower import tax, why not.
There was a time SGD $1 is to RM2, no body believe it's will be RM 3.

Here is another incident in June. Singaporeans stayed in JB and travels back to SG to work everyday, and warned against doing that on social visit pass.. Even wrote on his passport..

Didn't know, didn't hear, doesn't mean it didn't happen. All boils down to luck. The reports and screenshots are there.

As mentioned in the article. Social visit pass is not meant for permanent residence. Don't have to spend rm1mil to buy a place there to end up being denied entry and banned. Get a proper pass eg: MM2H programme.

If they got jobs in singapore means they have work permits. Of course they can enter without issues.
