I've been reading the forum for months.
Started investing into sti etf and abf using standard charted.

I'm allocating $500 monthly for this. However i'm buying 100 shares of sti etf and 100 shares of abf each month.
Is this a good way or what should i do for dollar cost averaging

Any method i should do? I'll rebalance maybe once a year to 80/20

Is there any way for me to track on the portfolio? Calculator or etc? Template? Coz i'm not sure how to count all this.
Thanks guys

Since you are only tracking 2 counter, it should be as simple as using google finance or if you don't need the auto price update, use Excel.

As for the splitting, $500, with $400 going to STI and $100 to A35 is about right. Wait til crash then you can increase buying into STI.

Disclaimer: I have only 3 years of investing experience. Ultimately, it's up to u. In case someone come and shoot me. haha.

if you aren't into active trading, best way to accumulate is to KISS.

some people prefer dollar cost averaging, while others prefer to time entries and exits.

i choose the best risk/return among all available options.

to KISS, choose something which you are familiar with. hard to lose money in that route.

you can try using financial times. it will notified you when your stock goes ex div.(you have to log into the account) I find it really useful because you don't need to go and search for the announcement. It even tells you how much dividend you are getting. however if you have foreign currency involve, the total return gets a little disputed. But since yours are all in SGD, it will serve you fine.

World business, finance and political news from the Financial Times

rebalancing actually calculates from your percentage of market value for each assets. For e.g if you want a 80/20 of your total portfolio of $100,000. your equity should be 80k and your bond/cash 20k. So if you have 83k equity and 17k bond/cash, all you need to do is sell 3k worth of equity and use that proceeds to buy into bond.

There is also another way which save transaction cost. For those who do dollar cost averaging, they can add your funds to the assets class which is below your target allocation band.

I am doing this since I add new funds every quarter. But I feel monthly transaction is fine since you are using SCB with no min commission.

that's it. relax, ignore those market noise, focus on your day job and get a promotion. =)
