Hi all,

I'm looking to replace my 1TB WD Black soon to a 6TB HGST DeskStar on my desktop rig.
However I read and ask around a little, apparently it isn't as simple as how I usually install my past HDDs that are < 2TB.
Like the disk needs to be formatted by GPT instead of MBR or something like Windows cannot read more than 2TB, etc, or even people with the same/similar motherboard (Asus H87i) as mine not being able to read the disk.
Hope someone can clear my doubts on this. Thanks in advanced!

Doesn't matter using 6TB drive for storage. Just partition it into multiple 2TB partitions.

It will affect you if you are using it as boot drive then you need to go for GPT with UEFI support. Moreover, you are not using Windows8/8.1, you can't get GPT boot drive using Windows7 (there are workaround, not gonna discuss here).
