Normally, no one recover files from operating system. Instead, it is the user data such as office files, pdf, photo, etc.

For OEM machines, the hard disk is usually partition into 3:
1. recovery partition
2. OS partition
3. user partition

Right now i am able to access all the drives, except one that has nothing in it despite stating 104mb used. I still cant use it to boot my laptop and it keeps going back to the black screen telling me to choose system repair/start windows normally.
Any idea what I can do to solve this? tia!!

Question here is

What had you done before this happen?

You referring the damage as physically / software as in windows crashing ?

If the os ask you to format, means your partition is already damaged or corrupted. You will not be able to see the files as there is no partition and as recognized as not formatted.

To recover the files, you'll need to use software recovery programs.
