I feel it's more of a heng suay thing. So far I've no problems with WD. You can also try the Hitachi Touro 1TB from Tradepac at S$76.

If data is really important to you, get two external HDD and backup important data to two drives instead

Think the offer is over. You can try Qoo10,or buy from SLS, eg pc themes. Lazada is selling the 2tb Samsung for 129 I think so you may want to step up if you find it more worth it. Or just wait for Friday or this weekend as lazada usually have some coupon codes they give out over the weekend plus dbs have discounts every Friday.
