Storage full issue

my iphone6+ 16gb is on ios9.2.1.. just today experienced this "almost full storage issue".. few days back it still had more than 3gb left.. this morning i checked, about 100+mb left.. totally no idea where it went..

i went to the storage manager to check, capacity of phone is 11.6gb. currently storage is 0.. i had already deleted all the apps, left with photos which i had already deleted more than 50%.. it did free up some spaces.. got about 800+mb n i didnt dl anything after that n it dropped to 0 again..

in storage manager, it states that used is 11.4gb n available is 0.. then it shows the apps and the storage used.. i add all the apps storage together and it isnt even 3gb, yet it showed all 11.4gb used up..

anyone knows how to solve this?

yup using whatsapp ver 2.12.14

funny part is just now from 0 it went back to 6gb free.. then gradually drop to 3gb as of now..

basically i went to settings>general>storage & icloud usage>

then it shows the used, available and manage storage..

from manage storage, now its 8.4gb used, 3gb free... i add up all the capacity of the apps its not even 3gb.. so wonder where it went..

i hook up to itunes now.. there are 4.39gb of documents&data

Lol I thought I am alone facing this issue. Read that in Apple support forums, some suggested removing Whatsapp and resolved the issue. One thing, if remove Whatsapp will all the messages get removed?

Removing whatsapp will not resolved the issue once you download back the same 2.12.14. I experienced the same issue, documents & data is 20GB

about deleting the whole whatsapp, i thought of it this afternoon.. i checked and can use icloud to store/backup all ur chats (messages and photos) but not video (at least thats what i saw in the procedures).. i thought why not just delete it and install again then restore back using icloud.. but then i read in apple forum that some guys tried and it didnt help..

funny part is suddenly i got back 6gb free w/o doing anything.. while initially deleting a chunk of photos didnt not increase the free memory (it actually reduces it).. now its back to about 2gb.. i am not sure if this new update has some issue that saved alot of "documents&data".. which i saw was like 4.39gb.. bcos i had already wipe out all the apps like fb, cna, etc.. only left whatsapp and google chrome, which i cleared all history

Either way is downgrade back using iTunes if you have saved a previous version of whatsapp.ipa and use iCloud to restore back.

Good thing I checked this forum. I thought it was something wrong with my phone. virus attack or something. I was tempted to do factory reset and restore from backup. seems like no use since the problem is with whatsapp.

Same problem... Woke up liao received notification for low storage. Cleared up some stuff. 1.6gb free in the morning, didn't do anything 1.1gb free now

Probably most ppl go for 64gb or 128gb. Only a handful go for 16gb.

That's why having 16gb is very risky.

64gb here. It took up like 20gb of my storage. I uninstalled whatsapp and my 20gb came back. I'm trying to figure out what triggered it, did u all send or receive document? If it's the app, why some got it, some is safe

Woah!! 20gb just from whatsapp?? my Whatsapp is only 300mb..

if you think storage issue is bad, this is worse. gal apparently broke up with the guy because WhatsApp screwed up his replies.

Go to WhatsApp itself and go settings>storage usage if yours is high then do the Chats>delete all chats to clear all the spaces(will remove all your all your WhatsApp visds n pics, so I suggest store the pics you need via pc or iCloud
