Hi guys~

I recently purchased crucial mx100 to replace my WD raptor hdd.

I already install the windows, all the updates, softwares and customize it. Everything is ok within windows but everytime i boot the pc. I always get

2.2tb infinity. This is not something I have when I have my old hdd on.

I check on the bios, this is one of the boot sequence. If I remove it, the pc will not boot into the ssd. Somehow must boot into 2.2tb infinity first before into the ssd. How to fix this?

My ssd is connecting to sata04, does it matter?

Also I just notice for performance, ssd should use ahci instead of ide. I already install windows 7 on ide.

Any feedback? I would prefer not to reformat my drive >_<

You have to set to ahci before installing os.

You have to set to ahci before installing os.

i read about change the registry file if you wanna change from IDE to AHCI. So I'm not sure is that feasible, haven't try yet. Actually , I would like ot get the boot option work properly first

You need to enable ACHI and TRIM function for your SSD before installing your OS.

This will then only allow the mobo and the OS to detect your drive as a SSD instead of HDD and maximise the potential performance.

If not, your drive will just be detected as a normal HDD.

Changing the registry worked for me during my switch from ide to AHCI. Remember to backup Ur registry before u do this:

1) Run the Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
2) Navigate to Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
3) Set the "Start" value to 0 (zero)
4) Navigate to Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pciide
5) Set the "Start" value to 0 (zero)
6) Shut down
7) Start up again, but before Windows boots go into the BIOS configuration screens and change the disk mode to "AHCI". Save the new BIOS configuration and restart so that Windows boots.

When Windows starts, it will detect the change, load new disk drivers, and do one more reboot to start up with them.

From what I see, 2 things are not right:
1. fail to set AHCI in BIOS
2. fail to disconnect all secondary drives except SSD during windows setup

As a result of item 2, MBR is on the data drive instead of SSD. So when data drive is disconnected, will not boot.

yes, i did not remove the 2 1tb and 2tb hdd during setup but they not hosting OS. The OS drive already took out(the wd raptor)

So right now, must reformat again? >_<

Do you notice great difference after you change the registry? and the bios settings?

pretty sure took longer than that yesterday.

Windows update 100+ take long time :(

Reinstalling and updating r 2 different things. But yeah, updating takes a long time.

No choice, ur best bet is to redo everything but this time, remove all secondary hdds.
