(Storage) SSD Discussion Thread

Just hooted a crucial c300 64gb at comex but after doin clean installation of windows and after running AS SSD benchy my scores are super low on the read. I'm using the native sata 3 on my mobo.

Some people use the Intel controller, not the Marvel 6GBps SATA3. I hear a lot of people using that instead, their controller technology more matured.

But you shouldn't be that slow too, have you installed the Driver?

not so sure, if u mean the marvell driver, yes ive installed the latest version. im still new with all these :(

hai...ive uninstalled marvell controller and using the intel 1, still super low points in the read. i wonder where i went wrong, i even hav ssd tweak done up properly :(

Use AHCI instead of Native.

Frankly, even you double 4k (QD32) speed, real life has little differences.

the more i read, the more it seems intel is still the most reliable for SSDs :/

you can try registering hopshopgo and hope they still have the free2kg shipping to SG
basically, amazon will ship to your hopshopgo US address, and from there hopshopgo ships to SG

i got mine F60 (along with notme16) for about SGD$200

Anybody have any idea between corsair, ocz and g.skill 120gb sandforce ssd, is there any difference between them? Saw that someone mentioned g.skill consume more power.

AFAIK, their technical performance are identical.

to what i have seen on various review sites, the three companies offer identical drives.
the only difference is the OCZ Vertex 2 supposedly got special sauce. hahaha
