SSD Decoder Ring - an SSD comparison guide
*** Update 2 ***

Added additional form factors (PCI-e). Added a huge number of drives, nearly doubling the entries over the original list. Added a column detailing the support and/or availability of TRIM enabled firmware. Split the table into 2 parts as it was becoming too large for our site to handle gracefully. Picks to be updated shortly.

*** Update 2 ***

In the process of conducting my SSD research and reviews, I have compiled a bit of a rough spreadsheet to help me sort through the mish mash of various SSD models. A while ago it occurred to me this would be greatly helpful to our readers, so I polished it up into a more coherent and easily searchable reference.

This is largely a work in progress, and I will be continuously updating this chart as new drives are released and tested. Feel free to bookmark this page for your future reference. So without further delay, here is what you've all been looking for!

Intel & Micron Announce 25nm NAND Flash Production, SSDs to get Bigger/Cheaper in Q4
I wasn’t supposed to be able to tell you about this until Monday, but it looks like the news leaked early so IMFT gave us the green light.

Intel and Micron jointly formed IMFT (Intel-Micron Flash Technologies), LLC back in 2006. The two companies share production from the venture. Intel gets 49% of IMFT’s flash production and Micron gets 51%.

n the usual Intel tradition, IMFT aggressively scales process technology to be competitive. The company started manufacturing at 72nm, spent 2008 at 50nm and just last year scaled down to 34nm. The latter is what found its way into Intel’s X25-M G2 as well as Micron’s soon-to-be released RealSSD C300.

32GB LiteOn Strong-Page MLC SSD LA-32M1S
Hopefully one day soon Solid State Drives will be standard equipment for new computer systems, but first SSDs must become available as an optional upgrade item for build-it-yourself orders. Plextor/LiteOn hopes to bring this service to tier-one OEMs, and computers from Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Sony could soon offer lightning-fast SSD performance. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the LiteOn 32GB 'Strong-Page' SSD, model LA-32M1S, built on the Marvell 88SS8014-BHP2 Da-Vinci controller.

Designed to fit into different product lines, LiteOn will offer the 32GB 'Strong-Page' LA-32M1S model to OEMs along side their LA-64M1S standard MLC SSD, and if popularity grows they plan to later release these models to the retail public under the Plextor brand name. The 32GB LA-32M1S model is an eight-channel SSD device, which will be succeeded by the LA-32M2S series featuring ten channels sometime before the end of 2010. PLDS will only offer their 'strong page' edition at 32GB, while the standard MLC SSD series will occupy 64, 125, and 256GB storage solutions.

While the SSD market is saturated with new products, LiteOn/Plextor SSDs will offer enhanced reliability and performance. The entire M1S series will feature a 1.5-million hour MTBF, along with S.M.A.R.T (Self Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) and unique flash-NAND wear-leveling for product life extension. PLDS claims that the LiteOn 32GB 'Strong-Page' SSD delivers the same performance regardless of NAND condition, with no data degradation thanks to their Garbage Collection Technology.

Corsair goes on SSD offensive, launches Reactor and Nova series drives

Around this time last year, Corsair jumped into the SSD market with a splash - and though its Performance and Extreme series drives continue to offer hard-drive-shaming speeds - we've yet to see the California-based memory specialist really stretch its legs.

Well, that's all about to change today with the introduction of four new drives as part of the companies Reactor and Nova series SSDs, all of which have made an appearance at UK retailer cclonline.com.

so which is a value for $ ssd drive say of 40-60gb just nice for win7 ultimate 64bit.

games to be installed in WD black 1tb as secondary drive, will this affect the performance since games/programmes are installed in secondary drive instead of the SSD OS drive?

Has anybody ever tried to use SSD with HDD's external case (SATA)? Does it require external power source or the power from the car's head unit is sufficient. Thinking of using it for AV storage in my car.
